Was brought up around sports in Kenya through his father, Kenneth "KT" Thimba, who was a rugby player and coach ... Weru began his sports journey playing hockey, cricket and rugby among other sports ... When he was only 14 years old, moved to England, where he joined the Northampton Saints Academy, graduating from their under-18 program before leaving the team to play with the Kenyan National Rugby Team
Was inspired to make the transition to football by former rugby player Christian Wade, who made the switch to football, was selected to the NFL's International Player Program and spent time with the Buffalo Bills ... Weru followed a similar path and was selected for the NFL's IPP class of 2026, joining teammate Uar Bernard
