More than anything, when you are watching Tank Bigsby on the football field, you see the energy. You see the all-out, not-gonna-stop, relentlessness.
You see the fun he's having.
"I just enjoy every opportunity I have out there," said Bigsby, part of a loaded Eagles running back room in his second season and first Training Camp in Philadelphia. "That's just the way I am. Go out there and do something you love to do.
"Every opportunity, it's like you've just got to take advantage of it, like it's your last opportunity. You can't play around with it, you know what I'm saying? But at the end of the day, you just got to go out there and have fun, and that's what I lean on."
As much as Bigsby loves the game, the game loves him right back. He embraces physicality, steps up to all the challenges, enjoys the nuances that separate players at the highest levels.
What Bigsby showed the Eagles last season was a taste of what could be to come: He averaged 5.9 yards per carry, with 344 yards and two touchdowns on 58 carries after the Eagles acquired him in a trade with Jacksonville. The combination of Saquon Barkley and Bigsby produced in a crammed-together sequence of weeks, and now that Bigsby has been here through an entire offseason, the vision for the running game – one that includes the rest of the jammed running back room with Will Shipley, Dameon Pierce, and Elijah Mitchell – is exciting, to say the least.
Bigsby is taking it all in. In a scheme that has the backs in more of a north-south style of running – a "downhill system," Bigsby called it – he is preparing for whatever the coaches have in mind for him.
Bring it on, whatever the role may be.
"I just come to work and do what I have to do every day," he said. "You know, whatever I got to do to help the team win, I step up and do my role. I feel like we're building. We're learning. We're getting better and better, especially since OTAs."
How does Bigsby fit into the offense? He has multi-dimensional skills and he's here to use them – running, receiving, pass pro. In his second season here, with a new number – jersey No. 8, pleasing to Bigsby after transitioning from No. 4 in Jacksonville to No. 37 with the Eagles in 2025 – Bigsby is ready to attack.
That's his style – slashing, taking the initiative, being the aggressor.
"Just working to get better in all parts of my game," Bigsby said. "We have a long way to go, a lot of work to put in and it feels good being here."
