Second Quarter Review: Eagles Up 10-0

GREEN BAY, Wis. -- In a game that has become a war of attrition, the Eagles lead the Green Bay Packer 10-3 after two quarters of action at Lambeau Field. The Packers, already missing their star quarterback Aaron Rodgers, lost Seneca Wallace in the first quarter to a groin injury. Scott Tolzien, who was on the Packers practice squad until earlier this week, has taken over the for the Packers and has completed 14-of-22 passes for 182 yards. The Packers have also suffered injuries to center Evan Dietrich-Smith and cornerback Casey Heyward.

The Eagles, meanwhile, have lost three starters to injury: linebacker Mychal Kendricks (knee), left tackle Jason Peters (quad) and safety Earl Wolff (knee). Cornerback Bradley Fletcher was inactive for the Eagles because of a pectoral injury.

With a 7-0 lead entering the second quarter, the Eagles began the period on defense. After Tolzien and running back Eddie Lacy drove the Packers down the field, the Eagles defense held up in the red zone, which it has done so well over the past few weeks. On 3rd-and-3 from the Eagles' 5-yard-line, Brandon Boykin![](/team/roster/brandon-boykin/dabde81f-efd1-4781-8985-62fcc841952d/ "Brandon Boykin") stepped in front of a Tolzien pass and returned the interception 76 yards into Packers territory.

The two teams then traded missed field goals as Alex Henery was wide left from 39 yards and Mason Crosby missed his second field goal of the game, this time from 42 yards.

On the ensuing Eagles possession, Nick Foles drove the Eagles into the red zone, thanks in large part to a key third-down conversion to Riley Cooper. The drive stalled in the red zone, though, and the Eagles settled for a 25-yard Henery field goal.

With 1:16 left, Tolzien got the Packers offense moving once again with a long 30-yard completion to Jordy Nelson down the right sideline. On 3rd-and-goal with nine second left in the half, Tolzien looked to have completed a pass to James Jones in the end zone, but Jones was forced out of bounds by Eagles cornerback Cary Williams. Crosby then knocked through a 26-yard field goal to make the score 10-3 at halftime. The Packers will receive the ball to start the second half.
