Reid Expects Maclin For '11 Season

Wide receiver Jeremy Maclin did not take part in Friday morning's practice as he did sprints and drills on an adjacent field. Maclin reported to camp on Tuesday after missing the first five days of practice due to an undisclosed illness. The team had excused Maclin from the start of training camp.

Head coach Andy Reid addressed reporters following practice and said that while there's no timetable for Maclin's return to the field, he expects to have his starting wide receiver for the season.

"I presume he's going to be there for the season. That's what I'm thinking," Reid said. "They've got to go through the process here and I'm all for it.

"We're just evaluating these tests. ... He's going through an evaluation process right now."

OFFENSIVE LINE SHAKEUP?

The shuffle along the first-team offensive line continued on Friday as rookie Jason Kelce took reps at first-team center with Fenuki Tupou working in at right tackle.

Reid said not to read too much into the lineups now. Offensive line coach Howard Mudd simply wants to give everyone a chance and find the best five men for the job.

"That's a process that Howard's going through right now," Reid said. "He's just identifying who he thinks is the best of the bunch."

However, there has been no question that Jason Peters is the left tackle, Todd Herremans is the left guard and rookie first-round pick Danny Watkins is the right guard at this point.

PATTERSON UPDATE

Reid said that defensive tackle Mike Patterson is continuing to have tests done. There is no additional update otherwise. Head athletic trainer Rick Burkholder told reporters Thursday that Patterson was diagnosed with brain AVM, a condition where there is a congenital tangle of blood vessels on the outside of the brain. Patterson suffered a seizure during Wednesday morning's practice and was taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital.

JACKSON STILL NOT AT CAMP

The Eagles' other starting receiver DeSean Jackson is still not at Lehigh University. According to a report from Pro Football Talk on Thursday night, players must report to training camp by August 9 in order to receive a year of credit towards free agency. Jackson is entering the final year of his rookie deal and would need another year of service to be eligible for unrestriced free agency.

Reid does not know when Jackson will report, but has been more concerned about the players who are in training camp.

"I really haven't spent that much time on it. I've got the rest of the guys that are here. I'm coaching them up and when he gets here, whenever it is, then he'll get coached up," Reid said. "But for right now, he's got to make that decision."

INJURY UPDATE

Defensive end Trent Cole left practice due to cramps, Reid said it was nothing serious. Linebacker Greg Lloyd tweaked his ankle. Cornerback Jorrick Calvin hurt his shoulder.

Defensive tackle Antonio Dixon missed practice with a slight knee sprain. Reid said it doesn't appear that he'll be out long. Cornerback Brandon Hughes was out with a slight hamstring strain. Marlin Jackson has a tight groin, so the Eagles rested him. Defensive tackle Trevor Laws was also out with a hip flexor.
