“It's a blessing to be a blessing and be able to do that for those women,” Carter said.

Ahead of the holidays, Michael Carter II and his wife, Alli, began brainstorming how they wanted to give back to those in need. The couple is expecting their first child, and that sparked the idea of donating to mothers and expected mothers who could use support.

Last week, the Michael Carter II Foundation partnered with the United Way of Northern New Jersey to give gifts to 100 current and future mothers in need.

"It was great. It was definitely a blessing," Carter said on Thursday. "It's a blessing to be a blessing and be able to do that for those women. Ultimately, I hope that we were able to make an impact in the small way that we could. I think everything went well. Unfortunately, we didn't get to meet everyone and make it more personal, but it still meant a lot to be able to service people like that."

The initial plan was for Carter and his foundation to host the women in New Jersey, the state he played in while on the Jets earlier this season, but due to inclement weather, they decided to cancel the in-person aspect.

Still, they were able to distribute individualized packages, including items like diapers, wipes, toys, clothing, and more. The foundation donated the bags to Raphael's Life House, Baby2Baby, Good Counsel, and Birth Haven.

"It was really just the essentials and some toys, just to take a little bit off their plates for the holidays," he said. "[It will allow them to] focus on more of what they want to focus on for Christmas as far as trying to provide a happy Christmas or happy holidays for their children, however they see fit. So, just take a little bit off of that plate to where, a little bit of that money in their pocket didn't have to go towards those essential needs like that." — Written by Matt Ryan
