The Eagles announced on Saturday that they have elevated tight end E.J. Jenkins from the practice squad for the Week 7 game against the Vikings in Minnesota.
The 6-foot-6, 245-pound Jenkins played in 12 total games for the Eagles last season, eight in the regular season and all four playoff wins. He recorded his first NFL reception and touchdown on the same play, hauling in a 7-yard scoring catch in the Week 18 win over the Giants (see the highlight below).
This is the first time that Jenkins has been elevated this season. The Eagles are down tight end Grant Calcaterra, who will miss his second straight game with an oblique injury.
Jenkins was a wide receiver in college, playing at St. Francis from 2017-20, South Carolina (2021), and Georgia Tech (2022). In 46 career college games, Jenkins posted 69 receptions for 1,264 yards and 18 touchdowns.
He converted to tight end after he joined the NFL ranks. He originally signed as a rookie free agent with the Jets in 2023. He spent time on the Eagles' practice squad that same season before signing again in the offseason on a futures deal. He was elevated from the practice squad three times last season before being signed to the active roster in December.
