Game Recap: Eagles 28, Vikings 22 | Week 7

The Eagles snap their two-game losing streak by defeating the Vikings, 28-22.

Career games from Jalen Hurts (19-of-23, 326 passing yards, 3 TDs) and DeVonta Smith (9 receptions, 183 yards, 1 TD) led the Eagles to a 28-22 victory over the Vikings. Philadelphia improves to 5-2 after dropping two straight games.

Here is how it happened:

1st Quarter

4th-and-4 at MIN 37 (7:07)

  • TOUCHDOWN! Jalen Hurts finds A.J. Brown for a 37-yard touchdown on fourth down. Hurts had plenty of time to throw, and Brown broke free for the score. The Eagles went 75 yards on their opening drive, converting a Tush Push, presented by DUDE Wipes, on 4th-and-1 to keep the drive going. Philadelphia ran for 35 yards on the drive. (Eagles 7 – Vikings 0)

4th-and-32 at PHI 41 (2:08)

  • The Vikings get on the board with a 59-yard field goal by Will Reichard. A snap that went over Carson Wentz's head pushed Minnesota back. (Eagles 7 – Vikings 3)

2nd Quarter

3rd-and-5 at MIN 39 (13:35)

  • PICK SIX! Jalyx Hunt intercepts Carson Wentz and returns it 41 yards for a touchdown. Wentz was pressured by Jalen Carter, who forced the errant throw. (Eagles 14 – Vikings 3)

2nd-and-27 at MIN 9 (12:10)

  • INTERCEPTION! Andrew Mukuba picks off Carson Wentz on a deep ball! Wentz was targeting Jordan Addison, and Adoree' Jackson had tight coverage as Mukuba dropped back for the interception.

4th-and-11 at PHI 16 (6:37)

  • Will Reichard makes a 39-yard field goal to cut into the Philadelphia lead. Jalen Nailor had a gain of 26 yards and Justin Jefferson had a 40-yard catch and run to put the Vikings deep in Eagles territory. (Eagles 14 – Vikings 6)

3rd Quarter

4th-and-9 at PHI 10 (9:05)

  • Minnesota adds another field goal after a red zone stop by the Eagles. The Vikings started the drive at their own 48-yard line after a strong return. (Eagles 14 – Vikings 9)

2nd-and-5 at PHI 21 (8:17)

  • BIG-PLAY TOUCHDOWN! Jalen Hurts delivers a perfect throw on a deep ball to DeVonta Smith for a 79-yard touchdown, the longest play of Smith's NFL career! Smith beat former Eagles cornerback Isaiah Rodgers on the play. (Eagles 21 – Vikings 9)
  • Center Cam Jurgens (knee), outside linebacker Azeez Ojulari (hamstring), and linebacker Jeremiah Trotter Jr. (ankle) have all been ruled out. Brett Toth replaced Jurgens at center.

2nd-and-goal at PHI 1 (3:42)

  • The Vikings get their first touchdown of the game on a Jordan Mason 1-yard run. Minnesota went 60 yards on eight plays. (Eagles 21 – Vikings 16)

4th Quarter

3rd-and-5 at PHI 10 (10:49)

  • Sack! Moro Ojomo brings down Carson Wentz on third down to force a Vikings 35-yard field goal. Ojomo has a team-leading three sacks this season. (Eagles 21 – Vikings 19)

1st-and-10 at MIN 26 (6:40)

  • TOUCHDOWN! Jalen Hurts finds A.J. Brown for a 26-yard touchdown, Brown's second of the day! Hurts and Brown connected for a first down on 3rd-and-13 to keep the drive going. DeVonta Smith reached 183 receiving yards for the game, setting a new career-high and marking the highest output by a wide receiver in the NFL this season. (Eagles 28 – 19)

4th-and-goal at PHI 11 (2:00)

  • The Vikings make it a one possession game with a 29-yard field goal. The Eagles get the ball back with less than two minutes remaining. Minnesota has all three timeouts. (Eagles 28 – Vikings 22)

3rd-and-9 at PHI 44 (1:45)

  • FIRST DOWN! Jalen Hurts finds A.J. Brown for a 45-yard gain to give the Eagles a first down! The big play put the Eagles in the red zone, and Philadelphia runs out the clock for the victory!

Standouts

QB Jalen Hurts

Hurts played his best game of the season, going 19-of-23 for 326 passing yards and three touchdowns. Hurts became just the third Eagle ever to have a perfect passer rating, joining Nick Foles (2013) and Donovan McNabb (2007).

WR DeVonta Smith

DeVonta Smith set a new career-high with 183 receiving yards, the most by a wide receiver in the NFL this season. Smith caught a 79-yard deep shot, the longest play of his career, for a massive touchdown.

WR A.J. Brown

Brown called game with his 45-yard catch late in the fourth quarter. He had two touchdowns, including one on fourth down on the opening drive, and finished with four grabs for 121 yards.
