The league wants the Eagles to show who they are early in the season to the world of NFL fans. That's the message with the way the 2024 regular-season schedule opens, with the team starting on Friday, September 6 at 8:15 PM in São Paulo, Brazil against Green Bay in a historic, internationally televised showdown on Peacock, followed by a Lincoln Financial Field opener on Monday, September 16 showdown with the Atlanta Falcons in an 8:15 PM kickoff.

Then, in Weeks 8 through Week 13, the Eagles are in the spotlight once again:

  • Week 8: It's an October 27 game at Cincinnati at 4:25 PM (CBS)
  • Week 9: The Eagles host Jacksonville at 8:20 PM (NBC)
  • Week 10: Philadelphia plays at Dallas on November 10 at 4:25 PM (CBS)
  • Week 11: The Washington Commanders come to Lincoln Financial Field for a Thursday, November 14 game on Amazon Prime Video for an 8:15 PM kickoff
  • Week 12: The Eagles head out to Los Angeles for a second straight season and a game against the Rams in prime time on Sunday, November 24 at 8:20 PM (NBC)
  • Week 13: Philadelphia stays on the road, this time at Baltimore against the Ravens on Sunday, December 1 at 4:25 PM (CBS)

In all, the Eagles are featured in five prime-time games, a sign the NFL understands the potential strength of this team, the star power it has, and the national audience it attracts. A schedule is a schedule and nobody knows how it will play out, but there are a few notables about the 2024 slate that are worth mentioning and, yes, appreciating.

1. The Week 2 game against the Falcons marks the third consecutive season the Eagles will play QB Kirk Cousins in Week 2 at Lincoln Financial Field in prime time. In 2022 and 2023, Cousins was a member of the Minnesota Vikings.

2. Former Eagles Head Coach Doug Pederson returns to Lincoln Financial Field with the Jaguars for the Week 9 game, the second time he and the Jags have played in South Philadelphia in three years. The Eagles defeated Jacksonville 29-21 on October 2, 2022, at Lincoln Financial Field in a rain-splattered contest.

3. Philadelphia plays three consecutive games against NFC South teams in Week 2 through Week 4. After playing Atlanta, the Eagles head to the road to play at New Orleans in Week 3 (FOX) and at Tampa Bay in Week 4 (FOX).

4. The team's bye week is early, Week 5, following the game in New Orleans, but don't forget that the mini-bye following the Thursday night game comes in Week 11 after the Eagles host the Washington Commanders on Thursday Night Football, one of the team's five prime-time contests.

5. For only the third time, and the first time since the 2016 season, Cleveland plays at Lincoln Financial Field led by Philly native head coach Kevin Stefanski (St. Joe's Prep & Penn). The game is in Week 6, October 13 at 1 PM. Cleveland leads the all-time series, 32-17-1, but the Eagles have won five of the last six games.

6. There are two 1 PM games scheduled for Lincoln Financial Field, Week 6 against Cleveland and in Week 14 (December 8) when 2023 No. 1 overall pick Bryce Young and the Carolina Panthers come to town.

7. Saquon Barkley's return to MetLife Stadium kicks off the Eagles' NFC East slate in Week 7 (October 20). From a calendar standpoint, it's the latest NFC East opener since 2009, when the Eagles didn't play a division rival until October 26 at Washington.

8. That Week 12 game (November 24) in Los Angeles is the final time the Eagles will fly for a road trip in the regular season; they have road games in Baltimore on December 1 (Week 13) and at Washington on December 22 (Week 16).

9. As usual, the regular season ends with NFC East tests – December 22 at Washington (1 PM, FOX), December 29 against Dallas (4:25 PM, FOX), and the New York Giants at Lincoln Financial Field in Week 18 (date/time, TBD).

10. Of course, everything begins in Brazil against Green Bay, a game that features two playoff teams from a season ago. The Packers are one of seven playoff teams from the 2023 season (Baltimore, Cleveland, Dallas, Los Angeles Rams, Pittsburgh, and Tampa Bay the others) that appear on the 2024 regular-season schedule, meaning the Eagles play eight games (Dallas twice) against teams that were in the postseason.

This is a tester of a schedule, as they always are. Peculiarities, fun facts, and great rivalries abound. More than anything, this is another prime-time schedule for a prime-time team, with the Eagles as always, it seems, in the national – international, this season – spotlight.

The Eagles announced their 2024 schedule on Wednesday night, which starts with the first-ever game to be played in South America against the Green Bay Packers on Friday, September 6 at 8:15 PM on Peacock.
