DE Joe Kruger Conference Call

On whether teams are looking at him as a OLB or a DE and whether he has any sense of where the Eagles will be playing him: "Both and honestly, no. I've played both positions and they really haven't told me what kind of defense they will be running this year, so I can do both, but right now I don't know what I'll be doing."

On what his contact was like with the Eagles leading up to the draft: "Obviously, I did the Combine and that went really well and I met a lot of good people. I went out and visited a couple teams during the process. I went to Philly; I went to Miami and a couple other teams. It's been all good. I'm excited to come up to Philly and show off my talent."

On what the visit to Philly was like and what the coaches said: "Honestly, it was more them learning about me. I just went straight to the airport to the facility and met with all of the coaches. They just asked me a bunch of questions about me, my family, what I like to do and stuff like that. I really like all of the coaches, I like how they run stuff out there, it seems like they're all good people and they have something really good going for them. I'm excited to get out there and get on the team."

On which day he expected to be picked: "I thought it was going to be between the second day and the third day. I knew I had the potential of slipping to a later round. I didn't want that to happen, but I knew it could happen and it did. I'm the one that chose to enter early, so I'm not disappointed, I'm just glad that I got drafted. I'm excited. I know what I can do and I'm excited to get out there and play with these guys."

On why he declared himself for the draft early: "At the end of the season, I kind of just looked at my future and looked at what was going to be best for me and I thought I played well enough to leave this past season and I think I'm mature enough and strong enough. I have a brother, Paul, who plays for the Cleveland Browns. He's been in the league for four years. I think I'm ready to play and I've been around it for a while now and I know I can play with these guys."

On how he compares with his brother: "I would compare our game a lot. I think we are both powerful players. I think Paul is going to be dropping more and playing more linebacker now. This offseason they (Cleveland Browns) had him lose a little bit of weight. So, I guess we'll see what the Eagles have me do. We're similar motor. We both go to the ball until the whistle has been blown and both have the same mentality. I'm a guy that hates to lose and I really don't sit well with it."

On what advice his brother had given him during the draft process: "He helped me a lot with the Combine. He got me prepared for that really well—told me what it was going to be like and that it would be a long process, a lot of meetings and stuff like that. Throughout the draft, we were just all sitting there in my parents family room and just sitting there waiting. He wasn't saying much, he was just kind of surprised that I got taken so late. That really doesn't matter now. I'm really excited I'm on a team and I'm excited to get out there."
