Brandon Graham

Friday, February 7

And now, we wait.

Defensive end Brandon Graham was a full participant in the final practice of the season for the Eagles on Friday in New Orleans.

The Eagles will have to decide whether to activate the 15-year veteran and Super Bowl LII hero, but in order to do that, another roster move will need to be made.

Philadelphia will also have to make a decision on tight end C.J. Uzomah, who is also on Injured Reserve with an abdominal injury. Uzomah was a full participant all week in practice.

Running back Kenneth Gainwell has been cleared from the concussion protocol, as he has no game status designation for Sunday. He suffered a concussion and a knee injury in the NFC Championship Game, but has been a full participant in the last two days of practice.

Wide receiver Britain Covey, who performed well as a punt returner in Super Bowl LVII, will remain on Injured Reserve with a neck injury. He was declared out for Sunday.

Offensive lineman Nick Gates, who has been inactive for most of the season, is questionable for Super Bowl LIX with a groin injury.

Wide receiver DeVonta Smith was limited in practice all week, but has no game status designation.

Everyone else fully participated in practice and is good to face the Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX on Sunday in New Orleans at the Caesars Superdome.

OUT

  • WR Britain Covey (Neck)

QUESTIONABLE

  • OL Nick Gates (Groin)
  • DE Brandon Graham (Elbow)
  • TE C.J. Uzomah (Abdomen)

Chiefs good to go for Super Bowl from an injury standpoint

Yes, Patrick Mahomes was on the injury report this week, but he was a full participant all week with an ankle injury and has no game status designation for Sunday.

In fact, the only player who does for the Chiefs is wide receiver Skyy Moore, who is doubtful with an abdominal injury that has kept him on Injured Reserve for most of the season. The Chiefs would need to make a roster move to activate Moore.

Punter Matt Araiza was added to the injury report Thursday but remained a full participant all week despite an illness.

Brandon Graham remains optimistic that he's on track to play in Super Bowl LIX after tearing his triceps muscle against the Los Angeles Rams in late November.

He was a limited participant again on Thursday, the same as on Wednesday. What will be the key to Graham being able to suit up for the Super Bowl?

"Just how I practice. Yesterday (Wednesday) was a good one. Today is a longer one, but if it holds and everything goes well, I think it's a go," Graham said before Thursday's practice.

Graham wants to reward his teammates for getting to the Super Bowl and giving him the opportunity to make this comeback.

"Man, it would feel great. Feel great because you worked your butt off to get back and I know that the team worked their butt off to get here, so I just want to be there for them," Graham said.

The Eagles would need to activate Graham off of Injured Reserve in order for him to be eligible to play.

Graham was one of three Eagles limited on Thursday. Offensive lineman Nick Gates was added to the injury report with a groin injury. Wide receiver DeVonta Smith has been managing a hamstring injury, but has no concerns for Super Bowl Sunday.

Everyone else was a full participant. Defensive tackle Jalen Carter (illness) was limited on Wednesday, but increased to full participation Thursday. Running back Kenneth Gainwell suffered a concussion and a knee injury in the NFC Championship, but took an important step forward in being cleared by participating fully in Thursday's practice.

LIMITED PARTICIPATION

  • OL Nick Gates (Groin)
  • DE Brandon Graham (Elbow)
  • WR DeVonta Smith (Hamstring)

  • LB Zack Baun (Groin)

  • WR Britain Covey (Neck)
  • G Landon Dickerson (Knee)
  • RB Kenneth Gainwell (Concussion/Knee)
  • TE Dallas Goedert (Ankle)

Wednesday, February 5

Now, it's getting real.

The Eagles held their first practice of Super Bowl Week on Wednesday and here is the latest on the injury front.

Defensive end Brandon Graham is hoping to return for the Super Bowl after tearing his triceps on November 24 in the Week 12 win over the Rams.

He was limited on Wednesday, but remains optimistic about his availability for the Super Bowl.

"We're gonna see. We're gonna see," Graham said on Wednesday. "Hopefully, with them seeing me practice, they believe that I can help on Sunday."

Graham spoke to other players who have torn their triceps in the past to see if the timeframe from when he suffered the injury would provide enough leeway to give him the chance to come back.

The Eagles know what it would mean for Graham, a hero in the Super Bowl LII win with a strip-sack of Tom Brady in the fourth quarter, to play.

"We'll see where he is by the end of the week. If he's able to be out there with us, it would mean a lot to this football team, just his leadership," Head Coach Nick Sirianni said on Wednesday. "Obviously, his ability and his play and the things that he can do, but it would mean a lot for us out there to be able to make – if he's out there, I know he'll make plays that help us win the football game."

Graham is on Injured Reserve, so the Eagles would need to make a roster move in order to activate him for Sunday.

The good news is that everyone on the active roster participated in some capacity.

Running back Kenneth Gainwell, who suffered a concussion and a knee injury in the NFC Championship, returned to practice for the first time in a limited capacity.

Starting offensive linemen Landon Dickerson (knee) and Cam Jurgens (back), who battled through injuries in the NFC Championship, were full participants.

LIMITED PARTICIPATION

  • DT Jalen Carter (Illness)
  • RB Kenneth Gainwell (Concussion/Knee)
  • DE Brandon Graham (Elbow)
  • WR DeVonta Smith (Hamstring)

FULL PARTICIPATION

  • LB Zack Baun (Groin)
  • WR Britain Covey (Neck)
  • G Landon Dickerson (Knee)
  • TE Dallas Goedert (Ankle)
  • C Cam Jurgens (Back)
  • TE C.J. Uzomah (Abdomen)

Could Chiefs get another offensive piece back for Super Bowl?

Everyone on the Chiefs' active roster was a full participant in Wednesday's practice.

Wide receiver Skyy Moore, who has been on Injured Reserve since October with an abdomen injury, was limited on Wednesday.

A former second-round pick, Moore did not have a catch in the regular season before his injury.

The Chiefs would need to activate Moore from Injured Reserve if he's going to play in the Super Bowl.

LIMITED PARTICIPATION

  • WR Skyy Moore (Abdomen)

FULL PARTICIPATION

  • QB Patrick Mahomes (Ankle)
  • T Jawaan Taylor (Knee)

Super Bowl Week is here! The Eagles are in New Orleans getting ready to take on the Chiefs in a rematch of Super Bowl LVII. Follow along as the Eagles take over the Saints' practice facility to gear up for the final game of the 2024 season.

Friday, January 31

The good news is that only four Eagles would currently be questionable for Super Bowl LIX against the Kansas City Chiefs.

The even better news? There's still another week of preparation – and time to rest and recover – before Super Bowl LIX.

The Eagles practiced on Friday and will do so again on Saturday before leaving Sunday for New Orleans.

Nine Eagles did not practice on Friday, but primarily out of precaution.

First-Team All-Pro linebacker Zack Baun was the only Eagle added to the injury report on Friday as he did not participate in practice with a groin injury. He did not have a game designation.

Brandon Graham was limited for a second straight practice in his return from a triceps injury that has sidelined him since late November.

Nolan Smith returned to practice as a limited participant on Friday after being added to the injury report on Thursday with an illness.

Defensive tackle Moro Ojomo did not practice on Thursday, but was a full participant Friday with a shoulder injury.

QUESTIONABLE

  • WR Britain Covey (Neck, Limited)
  • RB Kenneth Gainwell (Concussion/Knee, Did Not Participate)
  • DE Brandon Graham (Elbow, Limited)
  • TE C.J. Uzomah (Abdomen, Full)

*Covey, Graham, and Uzomah are currently on Injured Reserve.

Two of the new additions to the bye week injury report on Thursday were for good reason.

Graham, who suffered a torn triceps in the Week 12 win in Los Angeles, was limited in his return to action. Uzomah, placed on Injured Reserve on New Year's Day with an abdomen injury, was a full participant.

After the players had Wednesday off, they practiced at Lincoln Financial Field on Thursday, similar to how they have in recent weeks due to the ground conditions at the NovaCare Complex.

Two other players were added to the injury report as both cornerback Eli Ricks and linebacker Nolan Smith did not practice due to an illness.

Several Eagles rested on Thursday, including running back Saquon Barkley and wide receiver A.J. Brown.

The only other change from Wednesday's estimated injury report was that offensive lineman Brett Toth (knee) was a full participant on Thursday. He would not have practiced on Wednesday.

The Eagles did not hold a practice Wednesday, but submitted an estimated injury report to the league.

Nine Eagles would not have practiced.

Running back Saquon Barkley and wide receiver A.J. Brown would have had rest days. It should be noted that Brown's previous knee injury did not appear on Wednesday's injury report.

Guard Landon Dickerson would not have practiced with the knee injury that kept him from playing in the second half of the NFC Championship Game. Likewise, center Cam Jurgens, who did not start on Sunday due to a back injury, would not have practiced. Jurgens played in the second half for Dickerson, who started in Jurgens' spot at center.

A couple of other key offensive weapons would not have practiced on Wednesday. Running back Kenneth Gainwell suffered a concussion and a knee injury in the NFC Championship that would have kept him sidelined. Tight end Dallas Goedert would have rested, but was also dealing with an ankle injury entering the NFC Championship. Wide receiver DeVonta Smith would have missed practice with a hamstring injury.

Defensively, key reserve defensive tackle Moro Ojomo has a shoulder injury that would have kept him from practicing on Wednesday.
