A Historic Night In Pittsburgh?

The Philadelphia Eagles play their second game of the preseason against the defending AFC champion Pittsburgh Steelers this Thursday at 8 PM in what will be a nationally televised affair (TV: FOX, Radio: 94 WYSP). In their first preseason game, the Eagles defeated the Baltimore Ravens 13-6 at Lincoln Financial Field.

Last Thursday's game against the Ravens pulled an 18.2 television rating in the Philadelphia market which tied it with the Jaguars-Eagles game of 2009 (Michael Vick's first as an Eagle) as the most-watched preseason game in team history. This Thursday's showdown with the intrastate-rival Steelers will threaten the ratings record as DeSean Jackson will make his 2011 preseason debut.

The Eagles are 47-27-3 all-time against the Steelers during the regular season, and have posted a 9-12 record vs. Pittsburgh in the preseason. Philadelphia has only played one prior regular season contest at Heinz Field, a 27-3 defeat on November 7, 2004, and is 1-3 there in the preseason. Both Philadelphia and Pittsburgh won their respective divisions last season. The Eagles will be back in action next Thursday with their preseason home finale, a 7:30 PM game against the Cleveland Browns (TV: 6abc, Radio: 94 WYSP).

PhiladelphiaEagles.com's live coverage of Thursday night's game begins with the Kickoff Show, continues with the live broadcast of Merrill Reese and Mike Quick's play-by-play action and concludes with the Post-Game Show presented by Ricoh.
