Montgomery VanGorder is in his second overall season with the Philadelphia Eagles, including his first as an offensive assistant/assistant quarterbacks coach. He originally joined the Eagles' coaching staff in 2025.
As an offensive quality control coach in 2025, VanGorder supported a unit that paced the NFL in red zone touchdown efficiency (franchise-record 70.5 pct.). He also helped quarterback Jalen Hurts earn his third Pro Bowl honor after finshing third in the league in touchdown-to-interception ratio (4.2) and ninth in passing touchdowns (career-high 25, tied).
Prior to entering the NFL, VanGorder spent six seasons as an offensive quality control coach at Georgia from 2019-24, including two years working primarily with the Bulldogs' quarterbacks (2023-24). In that time, he assisted two CFP National Championship-winning teams and helped Georgia record one of the most dominant runs in modern college football history.
In 2024, VanGorder contributed to an offense that ranked 12th in the country in passing yards per game (281.0) and helped the Bulldogs win their second SEC Championship in three seasons while making a Sugar Bowl appearance. In addition, he aided the development of Carson Beck, who produced a career-high 28 passing touchdowns with 3,485 yards.
With VanGorder's support, Georgia ranked fourth nationally in completion percentage (71.8 pct.), fifth in scoring (40.1 ppg) and total offense (496.5 ypg), and 11th in passing offense (305.3 ypg) in 2023. Beck finished the year as a Manning Award finalist and earned second-team All-SEC honors after posting a conference-best 3,941 passing yards with 24 touchdowns.
During the 2022 campaign, VanGorder helped the Bulldogs register the fifth-most points per game (41.1) and total yards per game (501.2) in college football while becoming the first team to win back-to-back national titles in program history. The offense was led by Stetson Bennett, who finished as a Heisman Trophy finalist after throwing for a career-high 4,128 yards with 27 touchdowns and setting a school record with 310 completions.
In 2021, VanGorder was part of a Georgia coaching staff that delivered the program's first national championship in over 40 seasons. Furthermore, the Bulldogs ranked ninth overall in points per game (38.6).
VanGorder played quarterback at Notre Dame from 2014-17 before his final collegiate season at Youngstown State in 2018. He earned a degree in management consulting while attending Notre Dame.
A native of Buford, GA, VanGorder won consecutive Georgia Class 3A State Championships during his time at Buford High School.
