Mike Pellegrino was hired by the Philadelphia Eagles as the team's secondary coach during the 2026 offseason.
In 2025, Pellegrino served as the nickels coach for the Buffalo Bills. He mentored a unit that bolstered the top passing defense (156.9 ypg) in the league. The Bills also ranked fourth in completion percentage allowed (59.7 pct.) and registered the seventh-lowest opponent passer rating (79.8).
Pellegrino spent 10 seasons with the New England Patriots as a cornerbacks coach (2019-24) and coaching assistant (2015-18). During his tenure with the Patriots, he contributed to a staff that made three Super Bowl appearances, including winning Super Bowl LI and Super Bowl LIII.
From 2019-24, Pellegrino oversaw a group of cornerbacks that helped New England rank second in the NFL in interceptions (102) and fourth in opponent completion percentage (62.2 pct.). In that span, he mentored two of the six players who posted seasons with 20-plus passes defensed since 2019 — J.C. Jackson in 2021 (23) and Stephon Gilmore in 2019 (20).
In 2024, Pellegrino aided a unit that finished 10th in passing defense (211.5 ypg) while guiding Christian Gonzalez to second-team All-Pro honors from the Associated Press in only his second career season.
During the 2022 campaign, Pellegrino's cornerbacks registered three of the Patriots' league-leading seven defensive touchdowns. In total, New England finished with the third-most takeaways (27) in the NFL.
In 2021, Pellegrino directed Jackson to second-team All-Pro and Pro Bowl accolades after tallying a league-high 23 passes defensed and eight interceptions. Furthermore, Jackson posted a career-high nine interceptions in 2020, as the Patriots tied for the NFL lead in interceptions (18).
Pellegrino helped Gilmore become the first AP NFL Defensive Player of the Year in franchise history in 2019, when he led the NFL with 20 passes defensed and tied for the league lead with six interceptions.
Pellegrino began his career with New England as a coaching assistant from 2015-18 while also playing lacrosse at the professional level. He was selected by the New York Lizards in the second round of the 2015 Major League Collegiate Draft and played one season with New York and one with the Boston Cannons. Pellegrino was drafted after playing at Johns Hopkins, where he was a two-time All-American as a long stick midfielder.
A native of Oakdale, NY, Pellegrino and his wife, Amanda, have been married since 2022.
