Joe Kasper is in his fifth overall season with the Philadelphia Eagles, including his first year as the team's defensive passing game coordinator.
In 2025, Kasper oversaw a unit that helped the Eagles hold opponents to the lowest completion percentage (56.8 pct.) and allowed the fewest passing touchdowns (14) in the NFL. He also developed second-round draft pick Andrew Mukuba, who started 10 contests as a rookie and finished tied for the second-most interceptions (two) on the team.
Kasper supported the top-ranked total defense (278.4 ypg) in the NFL during the 2024 campaign, when the Eagles defeated the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX. Philadelphia also led the league in passing defense (174.2 ypg) while ranking third in passer rating allowed (82.5) and sixth in opponent completion percentage (62.2 pct.) during the regular season.
With Kasper's assistance, C.J. Gardner-Johnson and Reed Blankenship teamed up as one of only two NFL safety tandems to each register at least four interceptions in 2024. Gardner-Johnson finished third among safeties with a career-high-tying six picks (tied for the most by an Eagles safety since 1999) and ranked fifth at his position in Pro Football Focus coverage grade (82.6) (min. 500 coverage snaps). Blankenship led Philadelphia's defensive backs with 78 tackles and posted a career-high four interceptions.
Preceding his return to the Eagles, Kasper worked under Vic Fangio as the Miami Dolphins' safeties coach in 2023. He helped the unit finish third in sacks (56), eighth in takeaways (27), and 10th in total defense (318.3 ypg). Under Kasper's tutelage, Jevon Holland was voted a Pro Bowl alternate after producing 73 tackles, four passes defended, an interception returned for a touchdown, three forced fumbles and one fumble recovery.
Prior to the Dolphins, Kasper spent the 2021-22 seasons working as a defensive quality control coach with the Eagles.
In 2022, when Philadelphia advanced to Super Bowl LVII after its 14-3 regular-season campaign, Kasper assisted a defense that totaled the thirdmost sacks (70, tied) in NFL history, behind the 1984 Bears (72) and 1989 Vikings (71). He also helped the Eagles rank first in passing defense (179.8 ypg) while registering the fourth-most takeaways (27, tied).
During the 2021 season, Kasper contributed to a defense that ranked 10th in opponent yards allowed per game (328.8 ypg). In addition, the Eagles tied for the second-most defensive touchdowns (five) in the league.
Before arriving in Philadelphia, Kasper spent three years as a graduate assistant at Duke, where he worked with the quarterbacks (2020) and defensive backs (2018-19). In 2019, the Blue Devils ranked third in the ACC and 24th nationally with 199.0 passing yards allowed per game. He also helped Duke finish fourth in the conference in passing defense (199.5 ypg) and fifth in opponent passer efficiency rating (118.4) during the 2018 season.
Prior to his stint with the Blue Devils, Kasper mentored the wide receivers at John Carroll in 2017. He also spent the 2015-16 seasons coaching the defensive backs at Mentor (OH) High School, his alma mater.
From 2013-14, Kasper served as a player personnel and development assistant with the Cleveland Browns.
Kasper played collegiately at Baldwin Wallace (Berea, OH), where he was a three-year letterwinner at safety and earned Academic All-America honors before graduating in 2015 with a degree in political science.
Kasper and his wife, Tiffany, currently reside in Cherry Hill, NJ
