Jerrod Johnson joined the Philadelphia Eagles as a senior offensive assistant/special projects for the head coach during the 2026 offseason.
Before he arrived in Philadelphia, Johnson spent three seasons as the quarterbacks coach for the Houston Texans (2023-25).
In 2025, Johnson directed C.J. Stroud to a career-high completion percentage (64.5 pct.) while posting his third consecutive year with 3,000-plus passing yards (3,041) in 14 contests. Johnson also prepared Davis Mills for three undefeated starts when Stroud missed time due to injury.
Johnson guided Stroud to 3,727 yards and 20 touchdowns with a career-high 336 completions during the 2024 campaign. Under his tutelage, Stroud registered the most passing yards (7,835) and completions (655) by any Texans quarterback in their first two career seasons.
With Johnson's support, Stroud delivered one of the most productive rookie seasons by a quarterback in NFL history in 2023, when he recorded career highs in passing yards (4,108), passing touchdowns (23) and passer rating (100.8) en route to Associated Press NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year and Pro Bowl honors. Including postseason totals, Stroud's 4,557 passing yards were the second-most by a rookie in league history.
Prior to his time in Houston, Johnson served as the assistant quarterbacks coach for the Minnesota Vikings in 2022. He worked closely with Kirk Cousins, who finished fourth in the NFL in passing yards (4,547) and tied for fifth in passing touchdowns (29) en route to an NFC North title.
Johnson spent the 2020-21 seasons with the Indianapolis Colts as an offensive quality control coach, overlapping with Nick Sirianni in 2020 when Sirianni was the Colts' offensive coordinator. He also participated in the Bill Walsh Diversity Coaching Fellowship with Indianapolis in 2019.
From 2015-18, Johnson was on the coaching staff at St. Thomas High School in Houston, TX, where he served as the assistant head coach/offensive coordinator (2017-18). In 2017, he spent training camp with the San Francisco 49ers for the Bill Walsh Diversity Coaching Fellowship.
A former NFL quarterback, Johnson originally entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the Eagles in 2011. He spent time with Philadelphia (2011), Pittsburgh (2012), Seattle (2013), Chicago (2013-14), Baltimore (2016) and Dallas (2016) during his NFL career. Johnson, who was the No. 1-overall pick of the 2011 UFL Draft, also played for the UFL Sacramento Mountain Lions (2012) and CFL Montreal Alouettes (2014).
The Humble, TX, native played at Texas A&M from 2006-10, producing 8,011 yards and 67 touchdowns in his career. He finished his Aggies career as the school's all-time leader in completions, yards and touchdowns.
