Rumor Mill is an aggregation of Eagles-related reports, rumors and wild speculation. The team does not endorse these items.

The Miami Dolphins made it official on Saturday morning, naming Adam Gase their new head coach. Gase interviewed with the Eagles on Tuesday. There were reports that the Eagles were going to have a second interview, but those were disputed.

With the Dolphins' vacancy filled, the Eagles are one of six other teams looking for a new head coach along with the Cleveland Browns, New York Giants, San Francisco 49ers, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Tennessee Titans.

On Friday evening, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that Bears offensive coordinator Adam Gase will have a second interview with the Miami Dolphins on Saturday for their head coaching job. Gase was the first external candidate to interview for the Eagles' head coaching job on Tuesday, following internal candidates Duce Staley and Pat Shurmur.

Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald noted that Gase was Dolphins owner Stephen Ross' first choice from the start of the interview process and that Gase is the first candidate to get a second interview. Salguero added that the Dolphins were scheduled to interview Bengals offensive coordinator Hue Jackson on Sunday, following Cincinnati's Wild Card game on Saturday, but that meeting has been called off.

According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the Eagles will have a second interview with Bears offensive coordinator Adam Gase this weekend.

Some reports are starting to emerge regarding Tuesday's interview with Bears offensive coordinator Adam Gase for the Eagles' head coaching position.

Jeff McLane of The Philadelphia Inquirer reported that Gase met with the Eagles for eight hours on Tuesday. ESPN's Adam Schefter appeared on 97.5 The Fanatic on Wednesday morning and believes that the Eagles are still "highly interested" in Gase, but they want to balance rushing into a commitment versus the chance of losing out on a candidate who has interest from other teams.

"I think the Eagles are in a situation here where if it weren't for their past, it wouldn't surprise me if they already would have made a play to hire Adam Gase," said Schefter via Birds 24/7. "But I think what's going on there is the fact that they rushed to hire Chip Kelly and I think they don't believe that they spent as much time with him as they probably should have and got to know him as well as they should have, and so what you're wrestling with here is, you're trying to move quickly on a candidate before somebody else does while still making sure that you have a very good handle on the type of person he is and the coach he would be. They don't want to make that same mistake that they did the last time but they don't want to lose a guy they really like."
