Report: Peterson, Gerhart Out Today

MINNEAPOLIS --It's not official, official, official but a report from Vikings reporter Sean Jenson says that Minnesota players were informed on Saturday night that both Adrian Peterson and Toby Gerhart will miss today's game against the Eagles.

Peterson, the NFL's second-leading rusher with 1,221 yards, suffered a foot injury Sunday in Baltimore and also has a groin injury. He practiced only on a limited basis during the week. Gerhart has a hamstring injury, so the No. 2 running back on the team is also going to sit out, according to the report. Gerhart ran for 89 yards against Baltimore and had 89 in Week 12 against Green Bay.

Matt Asiata, who has three carries on his NFL resume (in 2012), and Joe Banyard, promoted from the practice squad on Saturday, will handle the running chores for Minnesota's offense.
