Commanders Head Coach Dan Quinn guided a remarkable turnaround of the franchise, thanks in large part to Daniels, the NFL's Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2024. The Commanders went 12-5, an eight-win improvement, and surged into the playoffs, winning their final five games, including the final regular-season matchup with the Eagles after quarterback Jalen Hurts exited due to injury.

The Eagles hosted the Commanders for the NFC Championship at Lincoln Financial Field after the teams split the regular-season matchups. Running back Saquon Barkley scored on the Eagles' first offensive play on a 60-yard run and Philadelphia never looked back, dominating the Commanders 55-23 to advance to Super Bowl LIX.

The 55 points scored set the record for the most in a conference championship game.
