Offensive Coordinator Marty Mornhinweg

Opening remarks: "Quick review of the last ball game, it was good to get a win. As you know, we had people at different positions, and I felt they stepped up and did a heck of a job. This week, we have a great opportunity and quite a challenge. With this defense, the numbers are high in virtually every category with very few exceptions. They have great skill and ability, and they have some very good pass rushers.

"Start with (DeMarcus) Ware, and (Jay) Ratliff in the middle is fantastic. Their linebackers are excellent, and the man from Penn State is playing at a high level, Sean Lee. Their secondary is very aggressive and have made some offensive groups look really bad. We've got a great challenge and we look at it as a great opportunity."

On facing Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator Rob Ryan: "There's been a couple occasions where we've run into each other."

On assuming that Ryan will call a lot of blitzes: "Well, there is a threat of a blitz. Yeah, he will blitz. He'll move people over in unusual ways which are sort of uncommon. You see it from some other teams but he does it a little bit more."

On the importance of having the opening day offensive line back: "I'm proud of the guys up front. We've made some big moves and we've had guys playing at new positions with new guys stepping up and playing well. The key is continuity, and trying to get the o-line to get a few reps together will be important in the long run."

On how he evaluates the performance of QB Michael Vick so far in 2011: "I think he's been tremendous in several aspects. I think he has some plays he'd like to have back, but that's my responsibility for putting him in good spots. On one hand, he's still on schedule to do what a lot of quarterbacks have never done with the passing and rushing together. On the other hand, he'd like to have some more wins. We've turned the ball over, had tipped passes, and had guys not blocking the right guys leading to turnovers. We have to play better as a unit for the quarterback to continue to progress."

On what Vick can do better when getting blitzed: "There's several things. It depends on what protection we're in, what the blitz is, and what route handle, and it's different on every play. Mike has been excellent his whole career in taking care of the ball, but some of them have been some tipped balls and he got hit a couple times right as he threw, and that led to turnovers. He's working through it, and we've identified several things he can get better at.

"Our whole offense, I told them a couple weeks ago, that 90% of our offense is outstanding. We're moving and grooving. Five percent is okay, and the other five percent is when we turn the ball over. It's crystal clear that it was a big problem. They have been different problems. There have been fumbles and I covered a few others, tipped balls and things. We ran into some defenses who were very opportunistic and they did a heck of a job there as well."

On why they haven't been able to put together a full game: "You like to put four quarters together. Every game is different, but there are momentum swings in every game. You have to work right through the dips and there have been several occasions where I felt we could've done a better job there."

On why balls have been tipped: "Again, every one is different. There are several different things that have happened on different plays when it occurred. We have looked at that, practiced it, and making it real simple. If we play a little bit more consistent, it will be better and those things will be minimized."

On whether he is confident they can minimize the errors: "Absolutely. We have good players and we practice hard. Players are putting the hard work and preparation in. It's a little early in the season and we are going to be a work in progress for just a little bit, but at some point, I'd expect our offensive line, tight ends, wide receivers, backs, the whole unit, will be at their best."

On why the three-step drop hasn't been utilized: "There were several teams that we're playing and probably a couple more because of what they do. The risk is that we play them again so I don't want to say too much here, but the play is different in virtually every game that we played in against that staff. It's been different every game. When you go into that ball game, there are several different things that we respect. We have certain coverages that have enabled us to do that."

On why Vick hasn't done more three-step drops: "We've done a lot of three steps, yeah."

On whether this has the feel of a playoff game: "Any time you play the Dallas Cowboys, it has that feel. We have discussed it that the past couple times we've gotten together. It's Dallas Cowboys coming in on Sunday night in South Philly, where would you rather be? The players are quite motivated."

On what DT Jay Ratliff does well: "I think he's one of the great players in the game on the inside at tackle. Typically when you have one of the great players in the game, he has it all. He's got strength, quickness, speed, has all the techniques down, spin moves and he's a powerful man. He's gotten after some guys, so we have quite a challenge there with our rookie center."

On whether Ratliff is a rare type of athlete to play that position at his size: "Yeah, there is two things. With some 3-4s, they want a guy with bigger size. I think he can play with any defense. I don't care if it's the nose or defensive tackle, he could probably play fullback really. The great ones can play in any type of scheme."

On whether it is more fun to prepare when the opposing defensive coordinator says he can beat you: "We don't get into that. Really, we don't. We're concerned about our preparation and our hard work. That's it. We tried to stay focused. You know this ballpark. There are reasons for that, and we try and stay very focused."

On RB Ronnie Brown's role: "Things work in mysterious ways sometimes. I would expect him to help this ball club moving on. Both backs right behind LeSean (McCoy) are excellent and ready to play. They're well prepared, and I think highly of and have confidence in Ronnie."

On why Brown hasn't played: "LeSean. When he has 20 carries, LeSean is playing so well. He's in great shape, he hasn't gotten fatigued, so there you have it."
