Injury update: Long list to consider as Sunday nears

Those who are wondering for some kind of minute-to-minute injury update for the Philadelphia Eagles, well, the closest thing you are going to get is the Injury Report from Thursday, which was striking: Running back Corey Clement (shoulder), tight end Dallas Goedert (calf), wide receiver Alshon Jeffery (calf), wide receiver DeSean Jackson (abdomen), defensive tackle Tim Jernigan (foot), and offensive tackle Jordan Mailata (back) did not practice. That's six of the 53 players on the roster, and when you add in safety Rudy Ford (hamstring) and linebacker Kamu Grugier-Hill (knee) as limited participants, you understand just how thin the healthy ranks are at the moment for this football team.

How is going to look for Sunday? To be determined. The Eagles will issue a status report on Friday afternoon. Until then, every player on that list is officially day to day.

Which means, what? It means the Eagles potentially have to do some juggling to get to a workable 46-man active roster on Sunday for the Detroit Lions.

"We'll just go with whoever is out there," right guard Brandon Brooks said. "That's life in the NFL. You know that injuries are going to happen. The good thing is that – I'm trying to think of everybody who is hurt right now – it doesn't seem like the guys who aren't practicing will be gone for long, if at all. You just want to win every week and try to be as healthy as possible for the end of the season."

That's where we are on this Thursday for the Eagles. There is more to come, of course.
