Philadelphia Eagles News

Head Coach Andy Reid

Opening Comments: "Okay, real quick on the injuries – (DE Juqua Parker) did not practice today, high ankle sprain. We just decided we'd back off him a little bit here and allowed (DE Phillip) Hunt and (DE) Brandon (Graham) to get a few more reps. We haven't made any decisions on Brandon yet. I mentioned to you guys that we need to (decide whether to active him) by Sunday, the league, because the office is closed, gave us to Monday to make a decision, so we'll just see how JP does and we'll evaluate the film of today's practice on Brandon. He's had a good week of practice. Other than that everybody was out there and going. We look forward to the challenge of playing the Bears. We know what kind of a football team they are. Obviously, they're very disciplined and tough, and should be a heck of a game, great Monday night football game. Guys have had a good week of preparation, worked hard in preparation."

On whether the NFL gave the Eagles until Monday to make a decision because of Parker's situation: "No, not at all. They're closed, the office is closed."

On what time the Eagles have to decide by on Monday:"4:30, Monday." * * On whether Parker will be listed as doubtful on the injury report: "Yeah, right now he's doubtful on the injury report."

On whether this is the same injury that has been bothering Parker: "It's a high ankle sprain. He had a little bit on tendonitis in there that they worked with, and they just calmed it down. I think he's getting better, we'll see here in the next day or so."

On whether activating Graham is a matter of conditioning or getting up to speed: "You know, it's really I've got to go back and I'm going to look at the tape. He had two good days of practice, and we'll go see how he held up today. It looked like he did okay, so we'll evaluate that and then I'll get with (General Manager) Howie (Roseman) and (Defensive Line Coach Jim) Wash(burn) and we'll talk through it."

On how Hunt has been doing: "He's doing a good job, improving every chance he gets to play. He was kind of a surprise coming into camp, I would say. To make the roster he impressed everybody with his play. We got into games, regular season games, he did a nice job there."

On whether he is finding that Graham is fitting with Washburn's style: "Yeah. He's picking things up. He's got good speed, and quickness, and all the things like that that you need to be successful in what Jim is asking him to do."

On whether he can commit to Graham being on the roster at some point: "Listen, I told you guys, I'm sticking with it. I told you it was a day to day thing. I'm not going to sit here and tell you other than that. I'm literally going to go back and look at the tape and meet with Howie and Wash, and Wash will have time to and look at the tape. These types of things you just want to make sure that everything is right with him."

On what happens if Graham isn't activated on Monday or next week: "I'm sure we're going to do something here in the next couple weeks here."

On whether you can get production from players that have come off of the PUP list in the second half of the season: "Listen, you can go 50/50 with this. I could give you instances of people that they struggled, and struggled even with the rest of the career they had issues with it, and other then people have healed and come back fairly quick. Right now he's moving around pretty good, it's just a matter of making sure."

On how RB LeSean McCoy is feeling: "He feels better. He seemed to be back today. He was better today than he was yesterday. Yesterday he was struggling a little bit, but today he felt pretty good."

On the Bears' defense: "Bears defense, you think of toughness and you think of discipline, those two things. They're just very good at what they do. Very seldom are they out of position, and then they're aggressive."

On why the team seems to play well in primetime and whether he does anything differently on weeks when they play in primetime: "I'll tell you the same thing as the bye. We go through the process, try to stay as focused as you can. There's a lot of possible distractions when you're a primetime game, you are the only show going on and so you can be torn in different directions and it's important that you focus in. But those are the same things you're working on for every game. There's just a few more situations that you can be pulled on for the primetime games."

On why he has backed off of WR Steve Smith, and whether it has anything to do with his knee or that there are so many receivers playing well: "I wanted to back off just a bit on him, and not that he wasn't doing well. You see that with a guy coming back like that, that exhausts himself to get himself back. You're sitting here at the middle of the season, so you step back, and then he went out and had a great week of practice this week. It's really the second week into cutting it back just a bit on him. But it sure looked like he was, this week I thought he had that zip that he's always had there."

On whether only the defensive end position will be looked at or all of the positions for a roster move if Graham is brought back: "We've kind of gone through that, so it's not just narrowed down to the single position. You want to try to keep what you think is best for your team and so on, at that particular time. So that's how we would do that."
