Head Coach Andy Reid

Injury Report: "(WR) DeSean Jackson has a groin strain. We'll just see how he does; it's going to be a day to day situation. (CB) Dimitri Patterson is going to have hand surgery here in the next couple of days. He will be out for this coming game. (CB) Asante Samuel had a neck stinger, he should be okay. (RB) Brian Westbrook sprained his ankle, has a little bit of swelling in it. It's the same ankle that he had surgery on. We'll just see how he does here in the next couple of days. (G/T) Todd Herremans is making progress but again, won't be ready this week. And then (QB) Donovan (McNabb) continues to make progress, we'll just see how he does. If he does not play this week then (QB) Kevin Kolb will be the starter."

Opening Remarks:"Again, with a game like yesterday and the way that game worked out, it wasn't a lack of effort. There were other things involved there in the execution part, and that falls completely on my plate. I've got to make sure that I take care of the execution, the discipline, and so on that it takes to win a game in the National Football League and that part didn't happen. It's tough to beat a good football team like the Saints with the field position that we put ourselves in, the penalties, five of which were on special teams, which you obviously can't do. Those go hand in hand that field position and those penalties. And then the turnovers, you have four turnovers and three of those end up in 21 points against you. I tell you the way we started that second half with two turnovers and then the bad field position and then getting a field goal that just can't take place. I will address this with the team today and we will figure out the problems, get them answered, resolved, and get ourselves ready to play the Kansas City Chiefs."

On RB Brian Westbrook's injury and the concern it causes: "I think he'll work through these things and then hopefully as time goes on here that he's able, I'm saying this because he didn't play at all during the preseason or training camp. He should be able to work through these and then get himself right where he can make it through the whole game."

On G/T Stacy Andrews' situation: "This is what I felt with Stacy. He obviously had the knee surgery and it wasn't that long ago. So during training camp Stacy didn't take any live periods. Then I brought Stacy out, gave him a little preseason action, very little. The reason why he didn't take the preseason action was because he wasn't putting that right foot in the ground. He just didn't have the confidence in it. He started doing it towards to the end of camp and let's put him in a game. I think the leg, just with time here, has gradually fatigued. So my feeling was, as we went later in the week, if I could hold him out someway of the game and allow that thing to strengthen up a bit, maybe it pays off for us down the road here."

On how Andrews' inability to plant his foot affects his technique at guard and whether his absence had an impact on the game: "I'm not worried about that. The other guys did okay. That wasn't the primary problem. Listen, there were some good things that we did. I thought that (QB) Kevin Kolb, for starting his first game, putting up 391 yards, I thought he did some good things. Can he learn from the interception on the second series of the second half? Yeah, he can learn on that. Can he learn on some of the other plays there? Yeah, he'll learn on that. But I thought overall he did a pretty good job after having an opportunity to evaluate it."

On whether G Max Jean-Gilles and G/C Nick Cole will be starting next week: "We'll see how this week goes. We're talking about Monday today, so we'll just how that all works out. They did okay. Can they do better? Yeah they can do better."

On whether he thinks McNabb will be able to play Sunday: "There's a chance. Like I said, it was a little slower from Friday through Sunday. It feels a little better today. We'll just see how it goes. I can't tell you that he can take a hit today, I don't feel that way about it right now."

On the fact that there have been reports stating that McNabb will not play: "I don't know where that report came from. I thought I was reporting here."

On whether Westbrook needed an MRI yesterday: "No."

On the plan for QB Michael Vick in practice this week and in the game Sunday: "We haven't even started on the game plan yet. We'll see how he does this week and see what he can handle in there and we'll go from there."

On whether Vick is the backup QB if Kolb is the starter: "I can't tell you that, I don't know that right now."

On the productivity of the Wildcat formation: "Whatever term you want to give the thing, it averaged 5.7 yards per carry and was very productive. I think we had five first downs with it and we ran it, do you remember how many times we ran it? Yeah, it was 12 times. There were some good things from it. There were a couple of good things from it."

On why he has decided to use the Wildcat now:"I just thought it was another little wrinkle we could use. We've done a few gadget plays over the years and had some success with them. Every game we have one or two in there. I thought this could help us both in the run game and in the pass game in some areas, again just picking and choosing and using it in a limited way."

On why he chose to use Westbrook in the Wildcat: "Another opportunity for him to touch the football."

On his confidence in Vick's decision-making abilities at QB: "I think he could do that. Is he 100 percent back and ready to play a whole game? I can't tell you that, I don't think so, and I don't plan on putting him in that position right now."

On his biggest concern about the defense after their performance against the Saints:"I thought the effort was there. I think we can do a little better job communicating, and playing a little tighter in some situations in the secondary. Those are all things that we can correct and we'll learn from from this game. I think it'll be better a situation the next time."

On why they have committed so many penalties: "I think that's discipline. I think it's not the effort but if you see somebody's back, you can't hit him. That's why there are rules for that. It's important that we go back and we make sure as coaches, and again this is where I've told you that my part comes in, that we're putting the player in the right position so he doesn't have to hit people in the back."

On DE Chris Clemons specifically committing a lot of penalties: "Yeah, we'll get that worked out."

On how he evaluates RB LeSean McCoy's play in the last game:"He did some good things. He seems to get better every game that he's played, and I'm including the preseason games in there. So, just keep bringing him along and see how he does as a fill-in for Brian."

On whether he thought Westbrook was still working his way back: "That was kind of my statement there. He hasn't played much in games and everything is obviously a little faster in games. He's doing that; he's going through that process right now. It's just important that he keeps working through it. I know that he's working like crazy with the trainers. He gets frustrated a little bit because he wants to be out there every snap. But that's just not the way it's going to work here right now. So he just has to gradually get himself back in there going."

On whether Kolb will take all the snaps with the ones this week: "Yeah. I told you that last week, but we also did practice Westbrook and a couple of the other guys in there in the Wildcat. We had three different guys taking snaps last week."

On whether Kolb will be the only one taking snaps as a quarterback: "Yes, unless you consider those other guys to be quarterbacks."

On whether Westbrook being out will change the way he handles the offense: "Really not too much, we're doing our offense. Whether he's 100 percent or not, we continue to do what we do. He gave us some productive yards yesterday and I thought at times looked very good so we'll just keep bringing him along."

On whether he thinks football has provided some peace for Vick: "I think he's fit in pretty well with the guys. He seems like a very nice guy and gets along with everybody very well."

On how he went about the decision to activate ten defensive linemen and four wide receivers: "With (DE) Victor (Abiamiri), I wanted to make sure that I had somebody there in case he wasn't able to go the full time."

On whether DeSean Jackson has a lot of leeway in fielding punts: "That one he probably would like to have back. That one you can't do that quite that far back there."

On how Jackson didn't seem to think he did anything wrong on the punt return and whether there needs to be a discussion regarding that play:"We'll work on that."
