Game Vs. Steelers: Head Coach Andy Reid

Injuries/Opening Remarks: "Jason Avant had knee tendinitis, and we took him out after an event in there. Trent Cole hurt his elbow, he had a bursa there that has been swollen and it swelled up again. Daniel Te'o-Nesheim had a hamstring strain. The obvious is too many turnovers, and our inability to get off the field against a good football team. There are lessons to be learned when you come into a good football team's house. You've got to make sure you bring your A-game. Again, the Steelers did a nice job today."

Is it hard to evaluate when your two starting defensive tackles aren't playing? "I expect the next person to get in there and play, and it's that simple.  That's what I expect."

On the running and passing defense: "Neither of them were good, and then on offense we didn't run again or pass again. It was a combination. I think all the way around it's starting with me and working through the coaches and the players. We are all in this thing together, we all stunk tonight."

On the defense adjusting to extra space: "It's preseason and we're working through things, learning as we go, but still, you've got to do better than we did tonight."

Do you think the magazine controversy affected Michael Vick's performance? "No, because he wasn't the only one out here. We were all in the same boat, we all stunk."

How serious do you take preseason evaluations? "You learn from it, is what you do. There isn't a tremendous amount of game planning that goes on for these games. You're getting work done, at the same time, you go back and evaluate the fundamentals. Things weren't too complex, and you have to go back and look at those things. We've got to look at what we're teaching them, we've got to look at both sides of the ball and special teams, and we've got to look at how we're executing them."

On Jamaal Jackson and Jason Kelce not splitting time: "Nine reps. There were no reps and I was just trying to get him some numbers."

On whether the team is hanging their heads: "No, I don't think so. I don't think that's the case. We had opportunities to get off the field, and it's important to learn from that and make the plays when you have opportunities. That's how this game works."

Did you have any inclination to put Mike Vick back in the second half? "No, he played a half and that's what he was going to play."
