One of the league's elite running backs will be rocking Midnight Green in 2024 as the Eagles have agreed to terms with free agent Saquon Barkley on a three-year contract.

The two-time Pro Bowl selection announced his decision on X with a simple message.

Barkley was selected by the New York Giants with the second pick of the 2018 NFL Draft and played six seasons with the Eagles' NFC East rival. In 74 career games, the 27-year-old rushed 1,201 times for 5,211 yards and 35 touchdowns. Barkley was also a weapon in the passing game, tallying 288 receptions for 2,100 yards and 12 touchdowns.

Born in the Bronx, Barkley was raised in the Lehigh Valley area of Pennsylvania, playing his high school football at Whitehall High School near Allentown.

Barkley attended Penn State, where he enjoyed three stellar seasons with the Nittany Lions. In 38 collegiate games, he rushed for 3,843 yards and 43 touchdowns while registering 1,195 receiving yards and an additional eight touchdowns.

The running back was a two-time Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year (2016, 2017) and a two-time Big Ten Running Back of the Year (2016, 2017). He is Penn State's all-time leader in rushing touchdowns (43) and total touchdowns (53). Barkley is the only player in Penn State history and just the fourth in the Big Ten to gain 3,000 rushing and 1,000 receiving yards in a career.

Barkley burst onto the scene as a rookie in 2018. He rushed for 1,307 yards and 11 touchdowns while recording 721 yards and four more touchdowns as a receiver. Barkley led the league in yards from scrimmage (2,028) on his way to winning AP Offensive Rookie of the Year honors.

Last season, Barkley played in 14 games, rushing for 962 yards and six touchdowns while adding 280 receiving yards and four touchdowns. Per PFF, he was also effective as a pass blocker on 95.9% of his pass-blocking snaps. That ranked first among running backs with 100+ pass-blocking snaps last season.

Among active players, Barkley is seventh in rushing yards per game (70.4), 10th in touches (1,489), and 14th in rushing yards (5,211).

A five-time captain of the Giants, Barkley is touted as a great leader on and off the field.

Barkley's offensive abilities will bring another dynamic element to an Eagles offense that ranked seventh in total offense and eighth in rushing offense.
