GLENDALE, Ariz. -- The second quarter began with Arizona facing a third-and-7 play from the Philadelphia 19-yard line, and quarterback Carson Palmer found Larry Fitzgerald open against Brandon Boykin for a 12-yard gain to the 7-yard line.

On first and goal, Andre Ellington gained 6 yards around left end and then Ellington followed up with a touchdown run over left guard. Chandler Catanzaro booted the PAT to tie the game, 7-7.

The Eagles came right back, through, driving from their 21-yard line into Arizona territory. Nick Foles completed three passes to Jeremy Maclin an all of a sudden the Eagles had a first down at the Cardinals 19-yard line.

A short completion to Josh Huff looked like it might go for big yards when Huff made a defender miss, but Frostee Rucker chased down Huff and knocked the ball loose. Arizona safety Deone Bucannon recovered at the 2-yard line.

The Cardinals took over and proceeded to put together a drive. Carson Palmer floated a pass down the left sideline for John Brown that gained 25 yards to the 33-yard line and Arizona had another 15 yards tacked on when Trent Cole was penalized for roughing Palmer on the play.

But the defense held, and the Eagles took over at their 15-yard line with 8:31 to go in the half.

A Foles 50-yard completion to a diving Riley Cooper and a roughing-the-passer penalty on Arizona on the play gave the Eagles possession at the Arizona 25-yard line, but the Eagles could not take advantage. Foles rolled left and threw for Josh Huff in the end zone, but cornerback Antonio Cromartie made a fingertips interception and returned it 40 yards to the 38-yard line.

The Eagles stiffened and got the ball back on their 20-yard line with 5:50 to go in the quarter. They gained a first down, but the drive stalled when wide receiver Jeff Maehl was penalized 15 yards for an illegal block, and the Eagles again punted.

Arizona gained 21 yards on an Ellington run, but that was it, and the Eagles had one more chance in the half. They started a drive at their 11-yard line with 1:48 to go in the quarter.  A completion to Maclin gained 12 yards on third and 6 and then Foles completed a pass down the seam to Zach Ertz for 15 yards. Foles ran for 11 yards and the Eagles had a first down at the Arizona 44-yard line with less than 30 seconds remaining on the clock.

A completion took a few ticks off the clock. With 18 seconds remaining from the 44, Foles threw high for Maclin and then threw out of bounds on third down trying to connect with Cooper and the half ended on Donnie Jones' punt.

Foles was 19 of 30 passing for 222 yards with a touchdown and an interception. LeSean McCoy gained 36 yards on 7 carries. The story of the first half? The Eagles turned the ball over twice in Arizona territory and also committed 9 penalties for a loss of 88 yards.
