Eagles activate Nolan Smith off Injured Reserve, elevate Patrick Johnson for Monday Night Football

Philadelphia will have a few additions to help the edge group tonight.

Nolan Smith returned to practice this week and he will make his return to the field on Monday as the Eagles activated the third-year outside linebacker to the 53-man active roster off Injured Reserve.

Smith suffered a triceps injury in the Week 3 win over the Los Angeles Rams and went on Injured Reserve. Smith has 10 tackles and eight QB pressures in 142 defensive snaps this season.

The 6-foot-2, 238-pound Smith is a violent player off the edge in both the run and the pass.

Smith returns on the same night that Brandon Graham makes his season debut after coming out of retirement, while newly acquired Jaelan Phillips is set for his Eagles debut. Phillips was acquired from the Miami Dolphins just before the trade deadline.

The Eagles will have some more reinforcements off the edge as Patrick Johnson was elevated from the practice squad for Monday Night Football.

Johnson has played in seven games for the Eagles this season, recording his first career sack in the Week 6 game at the Giants. Johnson has contributed two QB hits and six QB pressures in 115 defensive snaps, while also impacting special teams. Johnson, a 2021 seventh-round pick of the Eagles, played in just one game for the team last season and it happened to be against the Packers in the season-opening victory in Brazil.

The Eagles also have Jalyx Hunt and Joshua Uche at outside linebacker available for Monday Night Football.
