Doug Pederson: Alshon Jeffery's Rest Was For 'Precautionary Reasons'

Wide receiver Alshon Jeffery will be listed as questionable (ankle) against the Cowboys but head coach Doug Pederson remains optimistic that Jeffery will play. Jeffery was limited during Thursday's practice for precautionary reasons.

According to Pederson, Jeffery has been dealing with the injury for quite some time but did not cite a specific incident when the injury occurred. Ideally, the extra rest keeps Jeffery off the inactive list on Sunday.

"In his case, with all the cutting and stopping and starting in practice and games and just where we are at that time of the year, you're going to start seeing more guys either added to the list or taking some reps off in practice this week so we can keep them healthy for Sunday," Pederson stated during Friday's press conference.
