Seth Joyner

Linebacker

Eagles Career: 1986-93 | Eagles Hall of Fame Induction: 2018

Seth Joyner, who was named NFL Defensive Player of the Year by Sports Illustrated in 1991, played linebacker for eight seasons in Philadelphia (198693), where he was a three-time All-Pro selection (1991-93) and two-time Pro Bowler (1991, 1993). Joyner is the only player in Eagles history to record at least 35 sacks and 15 INTs and is one of just two players in team history with 20 forced fumbles, joining Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee Brian Dawkins (32). Joyner was originally selected by the Eagles in the 8th round (208th overall) of the 1986 NFL Draft. In 120 games with the Eagles, he totaled 875 tackles, 37.0 sacks, 17 INTs, 21 FF, 8 FRs and 5 defensive TDs.

YEAR-BY-YEAR

1986: After getting drafted in the eighth round, Joyner started seven games as a rookie and finished with 44 tackles, two sacks and an interception and forced fumble.

1987: Joyner had 96 tackles in 12 games, adding four sacks and a forced fumble.

1988: Playing all 16 games, Joyner posted a career-high 136 tackles, adding four interceptions and 3.5 sacks.

1989: Joyner had 123 tackles, five sacks, three forced fumbles and an interception.

1990: Joyner registered a career-high 7.5 sacks to go along with his 132 tackles. He also added three forced fumbles and an interception.

1991: Making his first Pro Bowl and All-Pro team, Joyner had 110 tackles, 6.5 sacks, six forced fumbles and three interceptions. He also led the league with two fumbles returned for touchdowns. Joyner finished second in AP Defensive Player of the Year voting and fifth in AP MVP voting.

1992: Joyner had 121 tackles, 6.5 sacks, three forced fumbles and four interceptions, two of which he returned for touchdowns. He was named second-team All-Pro.

1993: In his final season with the Eagles, Joyner made the Pro Bowl and had 113 tackles, two sacks, two forced fumbles and an interception.
