A member of the Eagles 1948 and 1949 championship teams, Pihos enjoyed a career that included six trips to the Pro Bowl and three straight seasons leading the NFL in receptions. He may best be remembered for his game-winning catch in the 1949 NFL Championship game vs. the Rams. A 3rd round draft choice by the Eagles out of Indiana in 1945, he caught 373 passes and 61 TDs during his career in Philadelphia. He was born on October 22, 1923 in Orlando, FL.

YEAR-BY-YEAR

1947: After getting drafted in the fifth round, Pihos started all 12 games for the Eagles and had 23 catches for 382 yards and seven touchdowns.

1948: Pihos had 46 receptions for 766 yards and a career-high 11 touchdowns on his way to a second-team All-Pro selection. He helped the Eagles win the NFL Championship.

1949: As the Eagles repeated as champions, Pihos had 34 grabs for 484 yards and four touchdowns. He earned first-team All-Pro honors.

1950: Pihos made his first Pro Bowl and had 447 receiving yards and six touchdowns.

1951: Pihos had 536 receiving yards and five touchdowns. He added two interceptions on the defensive side as well.

1952: Pihos was named first-team All-Pro and had 219 receiving yards and one touchdown.

1953: In the best season of his career, Pihos led the league in receptions (63), receiving yards (1,049) and touchdown catches (10).

1954: Pihos again led the NFL in catches with 60, adding 872 yards and 10 touchdowns.

1955: In his final NFL season, Pihos led the league in catches (62) for a third consecutive season. He also led the league in receiving yards with 864 on his way to a sixth straight Pro Bowl season and fourth first-team All-Pro in a row.
