Eagles Career: 1974-80 | Eagles Hall of Fame Induction: 1988

After coming to the Eagles in a 1974 trade with Cincinnati (in exchange for Philadelphia's first round picks in 1977 & '78 as well as a second round pick in '78), Bergey recorded nearly 1,200 tackles in seven seasons as an Eagle. He was a key factor in the Eagles rise to the 1980 NFC Championship and a berth in Super Bowl XV. His play also earned him Eagles MVP status 3 times and trips to the Pro Bowl on 4 occasions. He was born February 9, 1945 in South Dayton, NY.

YEAR-BY-YEAR

1974: In Bergey's first season as an Eagle, he finished as the AP Defensive Player of the Year runner up. He had five interceptions and 3.5 sacks.

1975: Bergey followed that season up with a first-team All-Pro campaign, leading the NFL with six fumble recoveries while grabbing three interceptions.

1976: Bergey was a Pro Bowler and second-team All-Pro and had two interceptions and 1.5 sacks.

1977: The linebacker was a second-team All Pro and Pro Bowler. He had two interceptions, two sacks and two fumble recoveries

1978: Bergey's final Pro Bowl season came when he started all 17 games and had four interceptions, four sacks and four fumble recoveries.

1979: Bergey played just three games and had one interception and one sack

1980: Starting all 16 games in his final season, Bergey had one interception, two fumble recoveries and two sacks.
