Fan Mock Draft: With The No. 8 Pick ...

Posted Mar 14, 2016

Fran Duffy and Alex Smith have offered their opening salvos as to how they think the top of the 2016 NFL Draft will shake out. Now, it's my turn, but there's one enormous difference is the Eagles now have the No. 8 overall pick.

Howie Roseman said last week that "there were 10 players that really stood out" in this year's draft class and the Eagles wanted to ensure that they will be in a position to get one of them. That's why they made the move from No. 13 to No. 8. Let's see who could be on the board when the Eagles select ...

1. Tennessee Titans - T Laremy Tunsil

I don't need to overthink this. Tennessee used the No. 2 overall pick last year on quarterback Marcus Mariota. Last week, the Titans traded for running back DeMarco Murray. According to Stats Inc., Tennessee's offensive line ranked 25th as an overall unit last season. Tunsil gives the Titans two quality options at tackle with former first-round pick Taylor Lewan. Last year's right tackle Jeremiah Poutasi moves inside to guard. Titans immediately upgrade at multiple spots.

2. Cleveland Browns - QB Carson Wentz

Andy Dalton. Joe Flacco. Ben Roethlisberger. The Browns' rivals in the AFC North are stacked at the quarterback position. There are a number of needs that can be addressed here, but getting new head coach Hue Jackson his future signal-caller is paramount. Wentz has the size and skill set along with the experience of playing in a pro-style offense at North Dakota State. And the fact that he played in Fargo makes me think he can handle the blustery Cleveland winters.

3. San Diego Chargers - DB Jalen Ramsey

In his end-of-the-season press conference, general manager Tom Telesco highlighted the need for a playmaker after the Chargers lost nine games by eight points or fewer. Jalen Ramsey has an amazing combination of size and athleticism and can be used as a corner, nickel or safety. Goodbye, Eric Weddle. Hello, Jalen Ramsey.

4. Dallas Cowboys - QB Jared Goff

Jerry Jones thinks that Tony Romo can play four to five more years and he may be right. The Cowboys would have won the NFC East last year if not for the Jordan Hicks sack that broke Romo's collarbone. It would make sense for Dallas to build around the quarterback to give the team another shot at a deep postseason run. I think that Dallas should seize the opportunity of picking this high and take the quarterback of the future.

5. Jacksonville Jaguars - LB Myles Jack

Assuming that Jack's Pro Day workout goes according to plan on Tuesday, the former UCLA linebacker would be a beautiful fit with Gus Bradley in Jack-sonville. If the name isn't enough, Jack arrives with a talented duo of edge rushers in Malik Jackson and last year's first-round pick Dante Fowler, who missed the entire season with a knee injury. Jack is a freak athlete inside a solid 6-1, 245-pound frame. He epitomizes the new standard for linebacker in the NFL with his ability to chase everything on the field.

6. Baltimore Ravens - DE/OLB Joey Bosa

Terrell Suggs is 33. Elvis Dumervil is 32. Joey Bosa is arguably the best pass rusher in this draft class and comes into a great situation in Baltimore. The Ravens were in the middle of the pack with 37 sacks last season. This is a team that doesn't stay down for long. Bosa will help make the Ravens a factor once again in the AFC North.

7. San Francisco 49ers - T Ronnie Stanley

You thought I would go with former Oregon Duck DeForest Buckner. Too easy, right? And that would be a potential option, but Chip Kelly needs to help an offense that ranked dead last in the league in points last season. With the top two quarterbacks off the board, Kelly does the next-best thing and improves an offensive line that was forced to start seventh-round pick Trent Brown by the end of the season.
