Weaver To Lead Way For Westbrook

As Leonard Weaver approaches his first regular season game as a Philadelphia Eagle, he knows that the root of team victory lies in responsibility of the individual.

"The key to success this week is everybody doing their job," Weaver said. "Knowing what you have to do on an individual level and then bringing together as a team, I think that's the best thing we can do. If everybody focuses on what they have to do, then we should be successful."

The bruising fullback is also anxious to get back on the field after he suffered an MCL sprain in the second preseason game against the Colts.

"I'm very excited," he said. "It's going to be a great opportunity, the first offense gets to come back together and get this thing kind of rolling. I get to be with my first guy, (Brian) Westbrook, so it's going to be a great feeling."

It will be the first game-action in which Weaver has led the way for Westbrook, who didn't play in any preseason games after undergoing two off-season surgeries.

Westbrook is "looking real good, I think he's 100 percent," Weaver said. "First of all, Brian's a pro, and I think we're going to come out just fine. I'm a blocker, he's a runner. He sets me up for success and vice-versa, so I'm looking forward to it."

Weaver also said he's not worried about making sure he's leading the right direction for the always-shifty Westbrook.

"You know what, those are the kinds of things I don't have to worry about, linebackers have to worry about it," Weaver said. "My job is to run into linebackers and make sure they're out of the way.

"So whatever move (Westbrook) makes, I'm pretty sure the linebacker's going to make my job easier by trying to get to where he thinks (Westbrook) is supposed to be, and then I'm just going to move him out of the way."
