Vick: We Definitely Have To Attack

Quarterback Michael Vick feels good and confident heading into this Sunday's matchup with the 49ers. Vick practiced all week long despite a hand contusion suffered last week against the Giants.

"I feel ready to go out and play the game that we love to play and do our jobs and try to get a win," Vick said Friday after practice. "I feel like I've played through worse. I think the most important thing is to go out and try to play and be conscious of protecting (the hand) but at the same time letting it all go.

"I want to hold myself accountable. Every Sunday is a time for me to go out and display what I've been put on this earth to do. I want to show my teammates that they can count on me in times of need. I love playing the game and I love playing with them."

Even though it's not his throwing hand, Vick emphasized how he must do a better job of protecting the football. The 49ers are tied for first in the league with a 6 turnover differential. The Eagles have a -4 differential which is tied for 28th in the league. Vick has fumbled the ball seven times in 2011 (three were lost) and has thrown two interceptions.

"It's important to protect the ball each and every week and on each and every down," Vick said. "The hand is something I won't think about. I'll just try to go out and play and try to be effective and play my part."

Vick at least will have the services of his starting wide receiver in Jeremy Maclin, who battled a hamstring injury this week.

"Maclin's looking good. It looks like he's 100 percent. He's doing well," Vick said. "He had a good week of practice and we're going to try and translate that over to the game."

The 49ers are 2-1 in large part due to their defense which is third in rushing, fourth in points and seventh in total yards allowed. However, the 49ers use a lot of man-to-man coverage schemes which the Eagles will hope to exploit. In fact, the Eagles did not have a completion of 30 yards or more against the Giants which is unusual for the explosive offense.

"We're going to have to be aware of what's going on out there," Vick said. "We definitely have to attack these guys."
