Vick: Thankful For Chance To Start

The media crowded around Michael Vick's locker on Friday after the news came down that he would start Sunday against Detroit, his first start since playing for Atlanta. The last start? December 31, 2006 against the Eagles.

"I just feel good, I feel confident about the game plan and I feel confident about what we're trying to do and what we're trying to accomplish," he said.

Vick played the second half against Green Bay on Sunday and put 17 points on the board in the 27-20 loss. That experience will help him this week."

"Last week kind of broke the ice for me as far as getting the jitters out," said Vick. "Not too nervous. Ready to get going. It's been a long time since I felt this good physically and mentally. I'm thankful that I had the opportunity to come back and play this game."

Vick said he had spoken to Kevin Kolb and that "hopefully he will be back next week" when the Eagles play at Jacksonville. In the meantime, it is Vick's show on Sunday at Detroit.

"This is a surreal moment," said Vick. "I didn't think this would happen this early. As a backup, you prepare and you're ready, but you are kind of in the background. As I said, this is a great feeling."
