Vick Calls NFL Network Ranking "A Joke"

Apparently, NFL players do indeed pay attention to where they are ranked by their peers.

As if Michael Vick needed any more motivation for the 2012 season, he found it by his No. 70 standing on the NFL Network list of the Top 100 Players of 2012. Vick said in a radio interview with 97.5 The Fanatic on Monday that the ranking was "a joke."

"They got me ranked 70, I think the thing to do now is go out and prove why I feel like I should be even higher," Vick said.

Vick wasn't sure whether or not the players decided the rankings, but in fact they do. A year ago, Vick was ranked No. 20 coming off of his Pro Bowl 2010 season.

Last season, Vick completed 59.8 percent of his passes for 3,303 yards with 18 touchdowns against 14 interceptions. More importantly, the Eagles finished 8-8 and missed the playoffs. However, Vick returned from a rib injury to lead the Eagles to four straight wins to end 2011. In each of the final three games of the year, Vick had a quarterback rating of 100.0 or more. It was the first time he had such a streak as a starter in his career.

The Eagles return to the field on Tuesday for the start of the three-day mandatory mini-camp. It will be Vick and the Eagles' final chance to practice before convening at Lehigh University in late July for the start of Training Camp.
