Vick Adding Some Extra Protection

With all the speculation about quarterback Michael Vick's health going into the regular season, the quarterback himself provided a bit of good news Tuesday. Vick said he will be fitted for a new, thicker Kevlar vest in time for the start of the regular season. The new vest will cover his entire sternum and rib area, giving him added protection from hard hits.

Vick said that while he's still recovering from the rib injury he sustained against the Patriots, he is preparing for the season opener at Cleveland.

"I feel a lot better," Vick said. "(The ribs are) still sore, but I'm just working through it. Ultimately, it'll get better over the next couple days and I'll get ready for next week."

On Monday, offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg said he expects Vick to be ready by the season opener. He also said that he believes Vick would've returned to action had the Patriots game been during the regular season.

The Eagles host the Jets Thursday night in the preseason finale before heading to Cleveland to start the regular season September 9. Nick Foles will start at quarterback for the Eagles.
