The Leftovers: Defense Stands Out

Defensive Nuggets … The Eagles defense forced two turnovers and three sacks … In his first game action on defense, LB Jordan Hicksregistered his first-career sack and forced fumble, which was recovered by DE Fletcher Cox … CB Byron Maxwell forced a fumble that was recovered by S Malcolm Jenkins,the fifth of his career … LB Connor Barwin recorded his first sack of the year. He has three over the last five games … DE Cedric Thornton picked up his fourth-career sack and his second against the Cowboys.

Red Means Stop … The Eagles defense has yielded just one touchdown in five red zone opportunities this season, including 0-2 against the Cowboys.

Offensive Quick Hits … WR Jordan Matthews posted 80 yards and his first touchdown of the season on six catches. Over the last 16 games, Matthews has 80 receptions for 1,000 yards and nine touchdowns. Matthews has led the team in receptions and yards in each of the last three games totaling 24 for 287 and two scores … The Eagles have scored touchdowns on four of their six red zone trips so far this season.

Birdseed … LS Jon Dorenbosplayed in his 135th consecutive game, tying Herman Edwards for the sixth-longest streak in team history.
