SS Quintin Mikell

On preparing to face QB Chris Redman: "You just try to watch as much (film) as you can. We watched the last game. We watched the preseason games when he played. You have to focus more on who he is throwing the ball to, who he is handing it off to and what he likes to do there with the overall scheme."

On whether Redman changes their offense: "No, obviously he's not a rookie. He's been in the league for a while, so he has a good grasp of the offense and he's a very, very, very capable quarterback. He gets the ball out quickly, on time and in good spots. I think he's definitely a good quarterback."

On Redman's style as a quarterback: "He's very athletic, he can move, he can throw, and he can throw on timing. I think that's one of the best things that he does, he throws well on timing and he can get the ball all over the field. It's tough to know exactly what to expect from him because we haven't seen a lot, but so far, he's a smart guy and he gets the ball on time. (He has) good placement on the ball and good arm strength, those type of things."

On whether they are preparing more for the offensive system than the quarterback: "It's funny, I think, especially now more than ever, it's more about the things we do on defense and how we can get ourselves better. The system is the system. They do a lot of shifting. I don't want to say trick stuff, but they do a lot of different looks. It's more about us playing our keys, being in the right spots and making plays on the ball when we are able to do that. I think right now, this week, we need to focus on what we do."

On whether WR Jordan Norwood being able to step in and contribute: "I think he can. I haven't really seen him play with pads on and stuff, but I can tell you he's a good route runner and he's got good speed. He's very deceptive and I'm looking forward to seeing what he can do with the pads on."

On the Eagles third-down defense against the Redskins: "I think they did a good job getting the ball out on our blitzes. I think as a secondary we probably should have been more aggressive on some of those calls. If we have man to man on some of those third and short or whatever, if we don't have a blitz on and it's man (coverage) we have to tighten up our coverage there. It's just little things like that, that once we continue this process, getting more comfortable with ourselves and our game we'll fix those things."

On how important this week's game against the Falcons is: "Pretty much every game from here on out is big. I said it a few weeks ago this is our game, this is our Super Bowl. They haven't lost at home. They've lost one time in the last two years (at home). They are going to be ready to go and if we don't come out with the right mindset it's going to be a long day. We have to treat this game like every other game we've had these last couple of weeks. It's the most important game of the year."

On Falcons WR Roddy White: "He's very good. I've never seen a guy that can do everything. He blocks, he can catch and he can run after the catch. He does everything well. He's definitely going to be a challenge, but like I said before we have one of the best secondaries in the league and we can hang with anybody."

On whether the safety's job description changes at all to give CB Sheldon Brown help over the top due to his injury: "No, and he's coming along. If he is out there, he's out there to play. We're not going to change up the scheme or anything to compensate that. He's still doing his thing. He's fighting through it. I still have all the confidence that he can cover if he needs to."

On the importance of getting LB Akeem Jordan healthy and playing again: "I think we've noticed, with him being out, that it's definitely different. We've had guys step in, but if we can get him back on the field, he's a starter and he's earned his starting job. Obviously he's a good player there. If we can have him back then we want him back. We need him back, but if he's not ready to go then he's only going to hurt us, so we'll see."

On whether there is pressure on players to play if they get hurt: "The pressure, most of the time, is internal. Everybody here is different and everyone has their own way of handling that stuff. The team that we have here, with everybody being the competitors that they are, they're going to be hardest on themselves to get back on the field. I know myself, I've dealt with that before. I've probably come back too soon from certain injuries and stuff, but you have to weight whether or not it's going to hurt the team coming back or not, or if it's going to hurt yourself. There is no sense in coming back early if you are not really ready to go. You are just going to be out there basically damaging our opportunity to win. With the issue that we are having with the concussions, those guys need to take care of that and make sure they are ready to go."

On whether there is a natural tendency to want to come back as soon as possible: "Yeah, as competitors you want to get back on the field as much as you can. This is what we do for a living. The notion that people are just sitting out because they don't want to play, or for whatever reason, I think that's wrong. Everybody out there, they want to bleed together and they want to win together. I don't think that that's true, people faking it or whatever."
