Seven Signed To Futures Contracts

The Eagles announced Monday that they have signed seven players to futures contracts. These players will be allowed to spend their offseason at the NovaCare Complex and will battle for a spot on the 53-man roster in Training Camp. Find out more about these players below ...

DT Ronnie Cameron: Cameron was originally signed by the Chicago Bears as a rookie free agent following the 2012 NFL Draft and spent most of the season on the Cleveland Browns practice squad. He played collegiately at Old Dominion University (2010-11) and Hofstra University (2008-09). As a senior, he started all 13 games and recorded 73 tackles and 6.5 sacks, helping the Monarchs to a 10-3 record.

TE Derek Carrier: Carrier was signed to the Eagles' practice squad on September 11. Carrier spent Training Camp with the Oakland Raiders after signing there as a rookie free agent. While playing receiver in college, Carrier was named to the All-Midwest Conference first team his final two seasons and set Beloit College career marks with 189 receptions, 3,111 receiving yards and 29 touchdowns.

WR B.J. Cunningham: The Eagles signed wide receiver B.J. Cunningham to the practice squad on September 2. He finished his career at Michigan State as the school's all time leader in receptions (218) and receiving yards (3,086), while ranking second all-time with 25 touchdown catches. The Westerville, Ohio, native was selected in the sixth round of the 2012 draft by Miami but was released as part of their final roster cut down on August 31.

LB Marcus Dowtin: Marcus Dowtin recorded four special teams tackles in three games for the New York Jets this season after being elevated from the practice squad to the active roster on October 17. Dowtin was originally signed by the club as a rookie free agent following the 2012 NFL Draft. He played three seasons at Georgia before transferring to North Alabama for his senior season. During his collegiate career, he played in 47 games and amassed 246 tackles, 7.5 sacks, two interceptions and five forced fumbles.

OL Matt Reynolds: The Eagles signed Matt Reynolds, the younger brother of guard/center Dallas Reynolds to the practice squad on September 3. Reynolds started a school-record 52 games for BYU from 2008-11. He was originally signed by Carolina following the 2012 draft as a rookie free agent, but was released as part of the Panthers final roster cutdown. The 6-6, 305-pound tackle served a two-year LDS church mission in Germany.

G Julian Vandervelde: Vandervelde was selected by the Eagles in the fifth round of the 2011 NFL Draft. A four-year letterman at Iowa, Vandervelde earned second-team All-Big Ten honors as a senior in 2010. He was re-signed by the team to the practice squad on October 2.

DB Eddie Whitley: The Eagles signed Whitley to the practice squad on December 5. An undrafted rookie free agent out of Virginia Tech, Whitley was originally signed by the Cowboys and spent time on the 49ers practice squad. The 6-1, 191 pound Fayetteville, N.C. native notched 83 tackles, two interceptions and a forced fumble his senior year. He also earned Second Team All-ACC honors that season.
