Second Quarter Review: Eagles Up 17-0

The Eagles wasted no time building on their 7-0 lead as the second quarter began with a beautifully executed 43-yard screen pass to Brent Celek that brought the team down to the 1-yard-line. One play later, LeSean McCoy ran in untouched for a 1-yard touchdown plunge to make the score 14-0.

On the ensuing drive, the Redskins drove methodically down the field with an 11-play, 72-yard drive into the Eagles' red zone. But as they have consistently over the last few weeks, the Eagles defense held up in the shadow of its own goal line and, for the second straight week, forced a red-zone turnover. Connor Barwin made the big play, sacking Robert Griffin III and forced a fumble that was recovered mid-air by defensive tackle Fletcher Cox.

The Eagles offense remained productive, driving the Eagles all the way to the Redskins' 6-yard-line before settling for a 24-yard Alex Henery field goal. The more important storyline from the drive, though, was the health of running back LeSean McCoy, who left the game with a hamstring injury after a 16-yard run. McCoy is questionable to return.

On their next possession, the Redskins once again drove into Eagles territory and came away with no points. This time, Trent Cole sacked Griffin III on 3rd-and-9 from the Eagles' 38-yard-line, forcing a punt.

A brief drive end-of-half attempt for points by the Eagles was then stalled when Foles took a sack as the half wore down with the Eagles holding the 17-0 advantage.

The Eagles will receive the ball to begin the second half.
