Samuel Issues Statement

After making some statements earlier in the day to reporters regarding some disagreement with the Eagles front office, cornerback Asante Samuel issued a statement late Wednesday afternoon.

"Earlier today, I let my emotions get the best of me," Samuel said. "Everything's good and I'm happy to be here. I had a talk with coach Reid this afternoon and I now have a better understanding of how business works in the NFL. Let's get a win Sunday."

Samuel had originally been reacting to rumors that he was on the trading block ahead of the trade deadline. Samuel said he had been told by management in August, after the team acquired Nnamdi Asomugha and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, that they would consider exploring a trade involving Samuel, though he had heard nothing since.

During the earlier session, Samuel made clear his approach to the rest of the season, saying he would continue to act like a professional and go to battle for "the fans, my teammates and coach Reid."
