Runyan Gets OK To Begin Running

Longtime offensive tackle Jon Runyan can take the next step in his recovery from the microfracture procedure that he underwent in January. Runyan went to see renowned specialist Dr. James Andrews in Alabama on Monday and, according to Reuben Frank of the* Burlington County Times*, has been cleared to begin running. The free agent offensive tackle hopes to begin football activity in about two weeks.

Right tackle Shawn Andrews did not take part in any of the training camp practices at Lehigh due to muscle tightness in his back. Head coach Andy Reid will not guarantee that Andrews will be ready for the season opener on Sept. 13 at Carolina. Andrews has not played since Week 2 of the 2008 season after suffering a herniated disc which required surgery. This injury is not related to the one last year. Andrews felt the tightness in his back after finishing the timing and conditioning drills on July 30.
