Report: Pettine Joins Bills' Staff

Former Jets defensive coordinator Mike Pettine was keeping track of the Eagles' search for a new coach, but he will now continue to do so with a new job already in hand.

Chris Mortensen of ESPN reported Wednesday morning that Pettine will join Doug Marrone's staff in Buffalo as the Bills' new defensive coordinator. Jets head coach Rex Ryan said Tuesday that Pettine was interviewing with the Bills.

Pettine played his high school football at Central Bucks West in Doylestown, Pa. and was the head coach at North Penn High School and William Tennett High School before breaking into the college coaching ranks.

Pettine said that growing up as an Eagles fan he had his hometown team in the back of his mind. Zach Berman of the *Philadelphia Inquirer *hinted that the Eagles might have targeted Pettine to join the staff of their new head coach.
