Report: Eagles To Play Browns In Preseason

The 2011 NFL schedule is expected to be released within the next two weeks. We already know which teams the Eagles are set to play next season.

Before the regular season schedule is released, we should learn which teams the Eagles will be slated to play in the preseason. Of course, we should expect the preseason finale to be against the Jets as it has been every year since 2001. But one of the other teams on the preseason calendar could be a team that the Eagles are quite familiar with - the Cleveland Browns. According to Tony Grossi of the Cleveland Plain Dealer, the Eagles are one of the teams that the Browns hope to play in the preseason.

Yes, the Browns aren't a division rival or a conference foe. But look at their front office structure: Andy Reid's former boss, Mike Holmgren, is the team president. Former Eagles general manager Tom Heckert is now the Browns' general manager. New Browns head coach Pat Shurmur was once the quarterbacks coach in Philadelphia.

Last year, the Eagles played an AFC North team in the preseason in Cincinnati. The Eagles last played the Browns in the regular season in 2008, a game won by the Eagles 30-10. The Eagles and the Browns did square off in the 2006 preseason.
