Report: Eagles In The Mix For Ward?

According to Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer and Cleveland.com, free agent safety T.J. Ward has drawn interest from 11 teams, and the Eagles may be one of them.

According to Cabot, the Eagles may have reached out to Ward because of the connection that he has to Chip Kelly. Ward attended the University of Oregon from 2005-2009, where Kelly served as offensive coordinator from 2007-2008 and head coach from 2009-2012.

Ward has played his first four seasons with the Cleveland Browns, one of the 11 teams that Cabot says is in the mix to land the safety. At 27 years old, Ward had his best professional season in 2013, finishing second on the team with 112 total tackles, intercepting two passes and recording 1.5 sacks on his way to his first Pro-Bowl appearance. As Cabot mentions, Ward was rated as the league's best safety against the run by ProFootballFocus.com, and the third-best safety overall.
