Reid On Westbrook, McCoy, Injuries

Andy Reid addressed several issues in his press conference following this morning's first practice with the pads on. First, he discussed the injury situation: Jason Peters (quad spasm), Asante Samuel (hamstring), Shawn Andrews (lower back), Victor Harris (high ankle sprain), Trevor Laws (hamstring) and Victor Abiamiri (pectoral) have all made progress and are feeling closer. Kevin Curtis left practice this morning with a thigh contusion he got after colliding with Quintin Demps in one-on-one drills – the injury had nothing to do with his sports hernia recovery. Also, when asked if there were any developments in the Jeremy Maclin contract talks, Reid responded, "No. There's nothing there."

On Brian Westbrook's rehab and presence on the sidelines: "Right now he is chomping at the bit to get back in. He just has to make sure he's healthy and ready to go. He wants to play, he's in great shape, he just has to heal up, but he'll be back in soon enough. But I do appreciate him getting out there and being a part it, and I know the players do too. He's got a lot of experience and good words of wisdom for them."

* On what he looks for in the first hitting session*
: "You want to see the young guys, the guys that you haven't seen hit, you want to see how those guys play, see how they hold up under the contact. We save the contact right until the end there so you have to have the endurance to get through the practice, and then finish strong with the contact part of it."

On LeSean McCoy's performance: "I thought he did good, he had one play where he lined up on the ball and he was supposed to be off the ball, but other than that, that's a minor thing. If I can pick out that one thing that's pretty good, he did some good things. We gave him an opportunity to carry the ball a little bit."

On the status of Shawn Andrews: "I'm not concerned right now, at all. I just want to make sure he gets his treatments done and gets back out here."

On Stacy Andrews not practicing during the live drills: "We're gradually feeding him back in, he's ahead of schedule and we want to keep him there."

* On who is benefiting from Jeremy Maclin's absence*
: "You've seen Gibson in there getting reps, (the young receivers) have all just rotated through on that. But of the young guys, Gibson I'd say is getting the quality reps there."
