LANDOVER, Md. --Here are some notes from Monday night's win ...
McNabb's Milestones ... QB Donovan McNabb became the 31st player in NFL history to eclipse 30,000 passing yards and the 28th player in NFL history to reach 200 touchdown passes. He also became one of just four players in NFL history to have at least 30,000 passing yards, 200 touchdowns passes, 3,000 rushing yards and 20 rushing touchdowns (John Elway, Fran Tarkenton, Steve Young).
Action Jackson ... WR DeSean Jackson scored on a 67-yard touchdown run, the longest of his career and the longest run by an Eagle since Brian Westbrook's 71-yard touchdown on 9/24/06 at SF. Jackson also had a 57-yard touchdown reception. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, Jackson became the second player in team history to have a rushing and receiving touchdown of 50-plus yards in the same game (Bosh Pritchard on 10/23/49 vs. Washington – 75-yard reception, 77-yard rush). All five of Jackson's touchdowns this season have been for 50-plus yards (85-yard punt return; 71-yard reception; 64-yard reception; 67-yard rush; 57-yard reception).
Triple Threat ... Jackson has now scored touchdowns via receiving, rushing and punt return in each of his first two seasons. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, he became the fifth player in NFL history to do so. Pittsburgh's Louis Lipps (1984-85), Chicago's Ray McLean (1940-41), Cleveland's Bobby Mitchell (1958-59) and Washington's Dick Todd (1939-40) are the others.
'Spoon Shines in Debut ... LB Will Witherspoon intercepted a Jason Campbell pass that was tipped at the line by S Quintin Mikell and returned it nine yards for his second career touchdown. On the ensuing possession, he sacked Campbell and stripped the ball for his seventh career forced fumble, which was recovered by Mikell ... It marks the second time in his career that he had a sack, forced fumble and interception in the same game (11/14/04 at SF as a member of the Panthers).
According to the Elias Sports Bureau, Witherspoon became the second player, since sacks became an official stat in 1982, to record a sack and an interception return for a touchdown in his first game with a new team since Buffalo's Sam Adams on 9/7/03 vs. New England.
The Hunt Continues ... DE Trent Cole notched two sacks Monday night and now has 6.5 on the season and 41.0 for his career. He has brought down the opposing quarterback in every game this season, joining the Colts' Dwight Freeney as the only two players to do so this year. Cole supplanted Andy Harmon (40.0) for fifth place on the team's all-time sack list. It was Cole's 11th career multi-sack game and his first of the season.
Defensive Nuggets ... The Eagles defense forced four turnovers against the Redskins (three fumbles, one interception). It was their fourth game with two-plus turnovers this season ... The defense has held opponents to 17-or-fewer points in five of six games this season ... The Eagles defense now has 12 interceptions, six fumble recoveries and 21 sacks in six games this season ... For the season, Eagles linebackers have amassed three interceptions, two forced fumbles, 4.5 sacks and one touchdown ... In four wins, the defense has held its opponents to 16 for 60 on third-down conversions (26.7%).
Birdseed ... Donovan McNabb played in his 138th game, passing Wes Hopkins and Andre Waters and moving into 14th place in team history ... S Sean Jones recovered a fumble, his first as an Eagle and the second of his career ... DE Jason Babin notched his first sack as an Eagle and the 16th of his career ...
