Nearly 23 Million Watched Eagles Win

The amazing display of Eagles fan passion that took place on Sunday night was not just on display at Lincoln Financial Field.

NBC announced on Tuesday that an average of 22.8 million people watched the Eagles beat the Giants 19-17 on Sunday Night Football. It was the No. 1 most-watched show on television and it was also the most-watched Week 4 Sunday night game in NBC's history dating back to 2006.

To show how much the NFL has grown, the Eagles played the Giants on Sunday night five years ago to the day and that game drew an average of 7.8 million fewer viewers.

What makes the amazing viewership for the Giants-Eagles that much more impressive is that the other networks debuted original programming.

And in what should come as no surprise, the Philadelphia market was tops among all for watching the Giants-Eagles game with 46 percent of all televisions tuned in. Maybe fans in New York knew the outcome in advance because it was the fifth-best market in terms of viewership.
