Multi-Sack Performance For The Hunter

Linebacker Trent Cole notched his first multi-sack performance of the season Sunday against Washington. It's Cole's 17th-career multi-sack game and his first since December 2011 at Miami.

"It was an all-around great game," Cole said. "It's how we played the game, we played together and as a team. We got after it. Sacks will come, they're going to come, and I just wanted to make sure that we all do our job. Playing the 3-4 defense, you have to do your job. If everyone does their job, we'll get off the field. I'm glad to see we're on the right track and things are coming together well. We're just going to keep pushing from here."

Cole got his first sack of the game in the final minute of the first half when he brought down Washington quarterback Robert Griffin III for an 8-yard loss.

The second sack came on a first-and-10 in the third quarter for a loss of 6 yards. Washington was forced to punt three plays later.

Cole now has three sacks on the year with each of them coming in the team's last three games. He has 74.0 career sacks, which is just 2.5 shy of tying Clyde Simmons for second in franchise history.

Despite those two sacks moving his season total up to three, Cole has been generating consistent pressure and emerged as an instrumental part of Bill Davis' defense.

"I know everybody is tracking Trent with his number of sacks, but it's not how we track it," Davis said. "We know all season that Trent has had that consistent pressure and put stress on the quarterback and tackles he's going against. It's nice to see him get rewarded with the final sacks, but that's not how we judge him. This game doesn't change how we look at Trent just because he had two sacks. We are very happy with Trent."

After the Eagles' 24-16 win to take sole poessesion of first place in the NFC East, everyone in Philadelphia is happy heading into the bye week.
