Wide receiver Jeremy Maclin said Wednesday that he feels good and expects to play Sunday night after missing last week's game against the Cardinals with a hip injury.
"I felt good," Maclin said Wednesday after practice. "They've been easing me in to everything, but I felt good today.
Maclin injured his hip twice in the same area, which he said made his return difficult. But he was also quick to mention that he feels a "lot better" this week, and believes he'll be able to play Sunday.
Five players did not practice for the Eagles on Wednesday - safety Colt Anderson, long snapper Jon Dorenbos, offensive tackle King Dunlap, defensive tackle Fletcher Cox and linebacker Akeem Jordan.
Head coach Andy Reid said Anderson will not practice due to knee inflammation. Reid did not specify whether it was the knee that was injured in 2011 or the one he injured in Week 2 against Baltimore.
Dorenbos suffered a high ankle sprain in the loss Sunday at Arizona. The Eagles signed long snapper Kyle Nelson to the practice squad on Tuesday as insurance in case Dorenbos can't play. Reid said that Dorenbos was limping around on Tuesday, but walking on Wednesday. Reid added that Dorenbos would have "to be functional" in order to play when asked if Dorenbos could simply snap and not run downfield, which is how the injury occurred.
"He's got to be able to move," Reid said.
Dunlap missed the Arizona game with a hamstring injury. Demetress Bell started at left tackle in Dunlap's place. Reid said Bell will continue to take the first-team reps while Dunlap is absent.
Rookie Fletcher Cox sat out practice Wednesday with a migraine, the same ailment that caused him to miss part of last Sunday's game. However, Cox did return to action against the Cardinals.
Jordan suffered his hamstring injury during the Cardinals game. Brian Rolle replaced Jordan in the game. However, Rolle and Jamar Chaney will split the first-team reps in practice.
Wide receiver Riley Cooper will practice on Wednesday. Cooper has not played in 2012 after suffering a broken collarbone during Training Camp. Reid said Cooper is "close," but has had very little contact.
